This game, according to the DM, will be merciless. I was thinking Mystic Theurge, just to combine the own of wizards and of clerics. But then I thought that maybe Geomancer would be a good idea.

Then I realized that I could do both. Would the caster levels from Geomancer and Mystic Theurge stack, if they were both taken at the same time?(possibly creating a caster who could cast 9th level spells)

NO. Go back and reread the gestalt rules. You are not taking levels in two things, you are getting the best of both from two things.

Also, you can have prestige classes only on one side of gestalt unless your DM says otherwise.

I thought that it could be inferred from my post that the DM allows multiple prestige classes. I guess it was a bit vague.

I thought so, but wasn't sure about that. Are there any prestige classes out there that work like Mystic Theurge, but only give one side of the casting progression at a time?

Druid 15 // Conjurer 5/Ur Priest 2/Mystic Theurge 8 is fun AND standard gestalt legal.

Since you're allowed prestige classes on both sides, may I suggest:

Conjurer 5/Incantatrix 10 // Beguiler 1/Cleric4/Dweomerkeeper 10

First apply Dweomerkeeper to get all the +2 metamagic spells to +1 then Incantatrix to get them to +0.

edit: does free empower and fell drain on every spell make evocation not blow horribly? .... nah! Orbs for the win!

In that case just do

Wiz 1 / Cleric 1
W 2 / Cl 2
W 3 / Cl 3
Mystic Theurge 1 / Crusader 1
MT 2 / Cr 2
etc
... Finishing with Geomancer 7 (advancing arcane) / Ruby Knight Vindicator 7
(well, actually, enter RKV earlier than that, but yoiu get the idea)

Full arcane, near full divine, BAB +19, IL 18, Divine Impetus, etc.

And Crusader / RKV is just an example, it can be changed to anything you like.

Would this work, or am I forgetting something? Is there anything I could do better?

Wizard 3/ Mystic Theurge 4/ Fatespinner 5/ Mystic Theurge 3 // Druid 6/ Warshaper 5/ Druid 4

If you are planning on taking an arcane casting class and druid why take mystic theurge over arcane hierophant? I am afb right now but as i recall provided you are taking 5 levels of druid you can qualify and if you take it to full get advancement of your familiar/animal companion, your arcane and divine caster levels, and wildshaping. Gives the caster level advancement of MT but gives actual class features. As I recall Arcane hierophant is in Races of the Wild page 108. It's at least worth looking at if you plan to go dual wizard//druid

To answer the previous question, Cariyaga:
You cannot advance the same spellcasting class more than once per level...
SO if you have, say, wizard10//cleric5/MT5... you will still top at caster level 10 for both Wizard and Cleric... unless your DM specifies otherwise.
For the hierophant, consider...
wiz5/crusader15//druid5/hierophant10/MT5
Net you 20 caster for wizard and druid
17 IL for crusader
15 wildshaping (nice match for crusader maneuvers)
BAB 18

(AFB.. is that right for the Hiero prereqs? You can put MT before Hiero if you need higher casting)

Now that I am back with my books I have the prereq's for Arcane Hierophant.

Alignment: Any NonLawful
Base Attack Bonus: +4
Skills: Knowledge (arcana) 8 ranks, Knowledge (nature) 8 ranks
Spells: Able to cast 2nd-level Arcane Spells and 2nd-level Divine Spells
Special: Trackless Step class feature

The first is trivial. The second is a little trickier and I'm not sure if you can hit it before level 6 unless you mix up the levels a little early on, meaning you would have to move a MT level up before heirophant. The third should be fairly easy with the 5 wizard levels to get class skills and the druid to gain skill points. You can meet both the 4th and 5th after level 3, since both use the fast spell progression and have seconds and trackless step comes at druid 3.
If you have access to any books, which if you can provide a list we can tailor our suggestions to your available books, Illumians from Races of Destiny (starting on page 51) are a great race for this since you can move your bonus spell ability dependency to Str or Dex because otherwise you will end up with serious MAD issues. Crusader is good for a ToB class to fill some non casting levels on the one side, though Blade Scholar is also a good option since, at least if I was the DM, their int dependency could be switched using the same Illumian power sigil words giving you further mileage out of your ability score.
Using that you could effectively reduce your ability dependency to Str for attacks and damage, and hypothetically spells and maneuvers, and Con for HP and your Str gets augmented by your shifting, as does your Con but that doesn't change your hp. Pick up natural spell of course, because druids who don't take that and have wildshape are crazy. That would give you, at level 20 which I know is beyond the scope of your original topic but I assume you will eventually level and it never hurts to plan ahead, 15th level wildshape, 20th level arcane/divine casting, and initiating at 17th level, all combined into a bear. If a bear walked up to me and started casting spells like mad I know *I'd* be freaked out royally.
Yeah apart from any new data about starting stats, point buy, existence of regional or background feats in the game, stuff like that; I'd say that should land you a fairly solid 20 level gestalt build, wiz5/martial15//druid5/hierophant10/MT5, though to meet BAB i think you will need to move one of the MT to before hierophant. That should get you enough information to keep you busy finding books for a good while I suspect. :P

ah.

you'll have to go wiz5//martial15//druid5/MT3/Hiero10/Mt+2
druid 5 only gives bab +3.
Still ends CL 20 for both casters and 17 IL with 18 BAB
That's fantastic.

Mystic Theurge is not allowed in Gestalt rules.

Good call Z.
However, cariyaga is already implying that his DM allows it... since he was the one asking in his own thread and all.
(RULE 0 for the WIN!) then there ya go.

I personally allow dual PrC's per gestalt level, as well as dual casting hybrid PrC's in my gestalt games.. so this isn't unusual to me at all.

By that token about half my build would be invalidated as it requires 2 different hybrid PrC's. :P Layering together awesome due to house rules? Check Please.

Mystic theurge is allowed in gestalt, but highly discouraged.

Gestalt is an alternate rule set anyways, while they recommend not allowing double progression PrC, but it's a "should" not is not.

You can make good gestalt characters with full double casting abilities, and still follow the rules.
