| #1RunosSep 18, 2009 1:54:54 | I need some help Trying to create Itachi from Naruto for my 3.5 campaign. He needs to be level 20 gestalted for the purposes of Itachi is insanely strong and i'm partnered up with my friend. If you don't know who he is naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Itachi_Uchiha. He's a master of unarmed combat, He's quick, strong. If he wants to kill you before you see him he will. I also need help being able to do Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu. |
| #2Maat_MonsSep 18, 2009 2:31:39 | You could go for unarmed variant swordsage on one side and anything combat focussed on the other. Alternately, psion//warblade is a strong base. You could take superior unarmed strike to deal 2d6 damage unarmed. |
| #3RunosSep 18, 2009 19:29:28 | can you guys please post some ideas please much appreciated. |
| #4phaedrusxySep 18, 2009 19:51:07 | There was a thread on the psionic board about optimizing naruto characters. That would be a good place to start, but I don't have a link.
Edit: Here you go:

I've read the post its actually not good to be honest. i Found a way to create the powers right now i need 20 level classes that have monk for greater flurry, level 9 manuevers from Tome of battle, and some ninja of crescent for the ninja like flavor. I need a combination of excellant unarmed fighting (preferable maxed unarmed damage with Crescent and lvl 9 manuevers. Also which feats to pick. |
| #6Maat_MonsSep 19, 2009 0:38:37 | If you must have greater flurry you should take only the minimum number of monk levels necessary to acquire it (11). You can take the superior unarmed strike feat to treat your monk level as 4 higher for unarmed damage and wear a monk's belt to treat your monk level as 5 higher for unarmed damage. With improved natural attack (possibly granted by a fanged ring), you will be dealing 4d8 damage per hit. If you are allowed to draw from Magic of Faerun, you can skip superior unarmed strike in favor of buying a monk's tattoo. You can take the snap kick feat for an extra attack, the two-weapon fighting feats for 3 extra attacks, and use the raging mongoose boost for 4 extra attacks. That is, you could manage 14 attacks half the time and 10 the other half (or 14, 12, and 10). Stormguard warrior would be potentially very good here. You need at least 14 levels in an initiating class to get a 9th level maneuver, but more levels get you more 9th level maneuvers. You should probably try to get in 2 levels of bloodclaw master to add your full strength bonus to attacks with both hands and remove the -2 penalty for two-weapon fighting. If the maneuvers are acceptable to you, warblade would probably be a good choice for the initiator class. One important question with warblade is do your want to go straight warblade to get dual stance? What in particular about ninja of the crescent moon is desirable to you and how many levels would you like to fit in? If you want to use material from Magic of Incarnum and you have some levels to spare, bonuses to attack or damage could be arranged. Pounce would probably be a good idea with this much emphasis on multiple attacks. You have access to a maneuver that functions as pounce; if that is reliable enough for you, there is no need to work another pounce ability in. Warblade 8 / bloodclaw master 2 / warblade +10 // monk 11 / ninja of the crescent moon 9 seems to fulfill all your criteria. |
| #7phaedrusxySep 19, 2009 13:35:54 | You can get Greater Flurry with only 1 monk level if you take the Tashalatora feat, and 10 levels of a psoinic class. I'd suggest Warmind, but lots could work, depending on how much psionics you want. |
| #8tearvonFeb 04, 2010 7:35:21 | If you're going to make itachi for 3.5 i would sugest lvl 5 rogue,5 wizard, 10 arcane trickster. Or you can go lvl 4 rogue, 6 sorcerer, 10 arcane trickster. With 16 lvl into arcane spell casting (arcane trickster/sorcerer), you would beable to cast blackfire which is Amterasu (which can be found in "complete arcane" pg 99). As for the Tsukuyomi, i have yet to find a suitable spell for it. Since he likes to use his version of a shadow clone, i would get the spell Mislead (players handbook), it would be a good way of negating a powerful attack would be directed at him. Or having him use "Body outside Body" spell from "complete arcane" pg 100, and when those die they can be turn in to black crows. As for unarmed combat, i haven't seen him not use a Kuni knife. which he uses to stab and throw at people. But if you want to make him unarmed i would get the the feat Improved unarm strike. Spring attack ( since he can move so fast no one can react to him), I would get Eschew materials ( just for the dramatic effect of hiding his wizard class). gear wise i would get Rods of Quicken ( or if your a DM or if your DM lets you, change it to a Ring of Quicken), or a rod of Still spell, and silent spell, to make it more dramatic. Just turn them into rings or vest so that you can get the bonus of casting spells without having to worrie to much about people figuring out what your real classes are. Since Itachi is quick and can preform Jutsu faster then anyone can see them ( or react) i would have him always have the following spells casted before he starts combat, (after all he has never been cought off guard, he is always prepared, and thats why these effects would be on him at all times) Haste, Arcane spellsurge (From the book "Dragon magic" pg 64) Greater arcane sight ( for his Sharingan, and Mind of the Labyrinth (From the book "Dragon magic" pg 70, to counter anyone trying to use mind effecting ability). I primarily focuse on illusion spells ( spells that focuse on allowing him to do his sneak attack), and fire spells "channeled pyroblast" from players handbook 2 page 106. Since Itachi never starts fights, he always fights defensively that gives him a huge advantage in intimadating players. Since he moves so fast, (haste, and quicked spells) or cast spells without moving his hands (rod of still spell). When he attacks its always accurate, davastating, and almost always fatal ( rogue sneak attacks). He is a master of illusions and fire magic, and the Uncanny ability to see opponites abilitys "greater arcane sight". he is one of the most formidable villien i have every played in my D&D campaign (the players still have yet to defeat his black flames) |
| #9RunosFeb 27, 2010 12:30:39 | Thank you for this post it was actually quite helpful. Anyone know how to pull of Tsukuyomi and/or Susanoo? And can anyone help me with class builds. I wanted make it for a level 20 gestalt campaign. I also wanted to take Mind Mage from Dragon mag 313 for 10 levels, but need help with what classes i wanted to take? I was also thinking of taking 3 levels of cleric just to be able to take iniate of mystra to cast in an antimagic field? |

| #12pergentileMar 12, 2010 2:07:43 | I am sorry, but I strongly disagree with your summarization of Itachi. Yes he is fast, and good at hand to hand, but that is waaaaaaaaaaaaay in the back for him. He is a sharingan user, and ALL of his combat is catered towards that. In fact, the reason he is good at hand to hand combat isnt his speed or technique, it is simply that he can see what his enemy does before they do it. His reading ability. He is an illusionist primarily, screwing with peoples heads. He also has some amazing jutsu's and some special powers that will be hard to replicate. First of all, Amaterasu would be Hellfire. You go into Fiendish Codex or any book with concentration on Devil/Demon, you will get something with hellfire in it. Secondly, Itachi has Susanoo before sasuke, and that is an ability I can think of imitating. Can you summon your hate as a physical godlike representation in D&D? And then ofcourse there is the staple move, Tsukiyomi, which is an illusion. The best way I would imitate it is psionics. There is one ability that causes the person to forever more live in a world inside thier own mind.... schism? Can't remember what its called. Check 9th level psion/wilder powers. And then there is the Blade of Totsuka... is that right? Which is an instant kill... to anything... at all... with no limitations.... yeah... you have your work cut out for you. Good Luck! ^^ Edit: There is also Yata Mirror, which REPELS every and anything... Itachi is simply undefeatable, unless you have amazing stamina. You might have to homebrew it, to give him like... temporary godhood, so if they hold out long enough (like sasuke did) they win...? |
| #13tearvonMar 12, 2010 9:50:23 | I am sorry, but I strongly disagree with your summarization of Itachi. Yes he is fast, and good at hand to hand, but that is waaaaaaaaaaaaay in the back for him. In fact, the reason he is good at hand to hand combat isnt his speed or technique, it is simply that he can see what his enemy does before they do it. His reading ability. He is only wanting a lvl 20 itachi, inorder to make itachi had his true full power of couse he would have to be epic, and not a god. Itachi is powerful but we are trying to put something like naruto into 3.5 rules. I understand how powerful itachi's potential power can be. BUT remember i say potential power. He has never killed anyone with a Tsukiyomi, Its nicked maked the spirit breaker. Because it cripples anyone in a one sec. The psiconic ability your talking about traps them in their world untill the real body dies a few days later. But this is not the Tsukiyomi the only common theme is traping them in their world. Remember Tsukiyomi is very powerful because of the how fast it is and the time disorting ability. As for hellfire i am reading it and it's nothing like Amaterasu/blackflames. Its more like Susanoo. But i would reather construct Sasanoo as an epic spell. Sasanoo is a very powerful Defensive/Offensive ability. But it's not a god sheild. the Water hokage was able to melt it. The Blade dosen't kill anyone in one it, It puts them in a drunken-stuuper-like-genjustu. Which last for all of eternity. This would be another epic spell also. The sheild is an artifact along with the blade. These are spirit weapons artifact. These have to be constructed artifacts, Remember what oruchimaru said before he was sealed away. Please pay attention when they talk about these things. Itachi is not a god he is defeatable. and he was never stronger then Pen, or madara. remember we are making a D&D charater or villien and to take from different classes Is truely unrealistic for players/DM to contend with. As a DM i like to follow the rules, and don't liking making GOD charaters that players can't truely defeat unless i want them to kill him. Which is not what D&D is about. The Itachi i made was modeled after the very 1st apperance of Itachi in preShippuden. Hence the lack of other abilitys. If i had to make him at his true power i would make him a lvl 26-30ish charater. he has epic power but not godly. |
| #14tearvonMar 12, 2010 13:54:05 | I am sorry, but I strongly disagree with your summarization of Itachi. Yes he is fast, and good at hand to hand, but that is waaaaaaaaaaaaay in the back for him. In fact, the reason he is good at hand to hand combat isnt his speed or technique, it is simply that he can see what his enemy does before they do it. His reading ability. As for the sharingan, its almost impossable to put that in to the game without breaking rules. I mean you can do it but how would you go about doing it. The sharingan has 3 major abilitys. Tracking fast movements, Hypnotic effects, and also being able to see how the spell is cast want what spell is it (which is greater arcane sight). I figue there can only be really 2 ways of doing it. Making it a template ( each matoo unlocking a certin ability, untill you get all 3) But what happens when you unlock the mangakiyo? Its different for everyone one of the Uchiha clan members. Which is hard to add it as a template. Or 2 you can make your own verson spell of Arcane sight, Instead of it seeing all auras all the time, its only unlocks what spells are being cast ( and since they made Psionics over lap with magic you cover every single ability in D&D, except for extrodanary) instantly with no having to make spell craft checks. Then you could apply a Hypnotic ability instead of being able to see what spells are in the area. Now for the hard part. Since the sharingan can allow the user to cast a spell he sees, as long as he meet all the requirements do so. The only ability i can think of is a spell from Forgetten realms, its in the "Magic of Faerun" named Alamanther's return. here is the tricky part do you allow weaker versions of this spell to be made ( I.E. Lessers Alamanther's return). And this is the part were the 3.5 macanics vs naruto world come into confict. Chakra vs prepard/spell slots. I would probably just stack the person with Alamanther's return, and a few prepard spells " that are his signature moves" I don't know if he is just making itachi just come into the naruto world, or trying to create the naruto world in D&D. If he is creating a naruto world in D&D then there needs to me an active assmalation of narutos world into D&D so that things are fair and balanced. But if he is just bring Itachi over as just a random "bad guy" or "as a player" then it dosen't really matter. he can just pick and choose |
| #15SenevriMar 12, 2010 14:59:27 | Uhm, okay... Naruto characters really don't flurry all that much, and uchihas are big on illusion and mind control. If no psionics, I'd most likely go for a enchanter or diviner / enlightened fist character, with shadow hand swordsage as part of it. Especially considering several jutsus can only be utilized few times per battle, vancian casting - or perhaps sorcerous casting - isn't a bad idea at all. Also consider the possibility of divine classes for better BAB and HP. ...No, actually illusion fits better. Mislead and phantasmal killer are great fits for Itachi. Replicate Casting is also a perfect fit. Amaterasu is Blackfire, Tsukuyomi could be many things, really. Being a monk is really really pointless, outside the whole hitting stuff with fists part. Most Naruto characters use blades, in the first place... and has Itachi ever hit anyone with a fist, anyway? |
| #16pergentileMar 12, 2010 21:34:14 | If he is first appearance Itachi, then he is the Itachi in Sasuke's flashbacks, and uses fire abilities and swordplay and just a bit of Tsukiyomi. If he is Itachi that kicked sasuke's ass and almost took off with naruto but gave up after facing gai and the other 3, then he has Amaterasu and a very powerful Tsukiyomi, and primarily uses his sharingan, so caster is the way to go. The flashback Itachi might have combat class levels for his sword/shuriken use. How is hellfire Susanoo? Are you refering to something specific? Hellfire is simply fire that completely overrides fire resistance and immunity, and trumps real fire in every possible way... and comes from the very depths of hell, enacting a grave price against the wielders health... fits the bar pretty closely to me. I think you are talking about Hellfire Warlocks third ability Hellfire Shield as susanoo... and no, it provides no defense, just extra offense, look up more hellfire, it fits, but where is the Blackflames you guys are talking about? I swear to god if its just regular fire that is black... fail. It would be easy to flavor hellfire to be black, considering it comes from hell. Ofcourse if you don't read the manga and haven't seen Sasuke using it then I understand you not seeing the connection. |
| #17tearvonMar 12, 2010 21:48:43 | I can tell you haven't read blackflames. seems like everyone else who has read up on blackflames agrees that it fits the Amaterasu perfectly. Its black flames that engolfs the person and feeds off the life force (burning away constitution points per round) untill nothing is left. I said before if your going to ad in Susanoo then your going to have to make itachi epic lvl, and that will be an Epic spell. As for the sword That Susanoo weilds, its a spirit weapon along with the shield. Which would be classifed as artifacts. And apprently your not reading my post clearly. Just thinking about the Fiend book to much. I have even said where you can find the Blacks flames. Every spell i listed, i have added the book and what page you can find it on. Amterasu (which can be found in "complete arcane" pg 99)Amterasu (which can be found in "complete arcane" pg 99)Amterasu (which can be found in "complete arcane" pg 99)Amterasu (which can be found in "complete arcane" pg 99)Amterasu (which can be found in "complete arcane" pg 99) JUST INCASE YOU ARE NOT SEEING IT Amterasu (which can be found in "complete arcane" pg 99) |
| #18SenevriMar 13, 2010 9:14:20 | superceded by spell compendium, actually :P But, yeah. Blackfire - deals DIRECT CON DAMAGE, spreads to anyone who gets too close... It's bad enough that I'm always hesitant to use against my PCs. Seriously, it kills stuff. Susa-no-o is a bit tricky, yeah. Any force-blocks-line-of-effect gives the defense needed, but adding the offense capabilities gets a bit tricky. I guess you could activate some sort of an auto-offense attack beforehand. Effect-wise, we're looking at some things like spell turning and on-hit save vs. suck, with multiple uses. (Duration is okay, since Susa-no-o cannot be kept up indefinitely.) Anyway, isn't hellfire just half vile damage? Also, is there any reference to hell even in flavor of Amaterasu? No. It doesn't even fit thematically, and mechanically it's weak. Anyway, tsukuyomi... Pergentile is thinking of Solipsism, which isn't bad, but basically any mind-affecting/illusion save vs. lose fits, mechanically. Something enchantment-y fits best. |
| #19pergentileMar 13, 2010 22:31:29 | Sorry I missed your source Tearvon. I wasn't meaning I disagreed with your summirization of Itachi, I mean the OP's, who wanted to go all physical combat as far as I could tell.. I actually agree with you on most points and think you have a great model. I believe that to truly encompass Itachi's actual combat style as I've seen it, he should be mostly caster levels. The combat levels (Gestalt is brutal) should be there, but they shouldn't cut into the potential of getting dead on with a gestalt caster. I read blackflames, and I am not sure that "feeding off the targets own lifeforce" is a better fit then "Feeding off the Casters lifeforce" I just recall over and over Sasuke's and Itachi's eyes bleeding from using Amaterasu. Yes Hellfire is from Hell, but there is no reason an average PC would have knowledge of Hellfire. Not to mention since if fits better statistically (in my opinion), changing the flavor is preferable over changing the statistics of the spell, and making it a Homebrew spell pretty much. It also has an extremely dangerous potential, but someone with a high fort save can resist it completely by making 3 fort saves in a row, or a single reflex save when its cast. Hellfire however is usually a touch attack (10+Dex+size+deflection) so it easily hits everything except small and agile force-casters or any combination of 2 of those three, lol. It deals damage, no matter your resistance or immunity to fire, and overcomes like... a lot of DR out there. Amaterasu IS fire in the end, and gives burning wounds, not wounds of the soul, and just like blackflames would leave a killed enemy in a pile of ashes. In fact, I've never read anywhere that Hellfire has to look like normal fire, so making it Blackhellfire would be less than a hop, a skip OR a tripandfallonyourface. I understand I might be wrong about this, I've only read through the manga once and am going off of memory, if I am wrong about my depiction of Amaterasu in Naruto, I have no problems with being corrected. ^^ Also some more thoughts. Sharingan's tracking abilites. See in Darkness of any kind, see invisibility of any kind, and +X to spellcraft checks to know spells being cast. As long as you have something that can duplicate spells etc. (Like wish) it shouldn't be hard. Although as far as I remember, Itachi really just stuck with his stuff, it was Kakashi who is the copyer, so it doesn't need to be relevant. If I were plating an Itachi NPC, I wouldn't bother having him identify and attempt to copy anything except maybe my opponents' illusion abilities (Which he did in Konoha when fighting the four teachers that happened upon him) Edit: Just thought of Heat Death etc. Itachi does have a lot of fire-based stuff. Reflavoring Pyrokineticist might be an idea, and a feat can give the required PP makes it a viable option. Has anyone made up a Char sketch yet, as to which two classes would be picked at each level (as gestalt is a bit more complicated then regular, so which class levels are put together at each level can make a HUGE difference) or (This to the OP) can we have any specifics like starting ability score options and max gold value of items he can have? Also does he have to be human? (Although that won't be much of an issue with a char big into illusions) And are there any big restrictions (Like no psionics, etc) that might be useful to know about? @Tearvon I said right in my post before your last I hadn't read Blackflames, no need to point out my faults for the sake of disagreeing with my opinion. If you disagree thats fine. If everyone disagrees thats fine, it doesn't make me wrong, and I hope you are not trying to be belligerent because I disagree with you on some points. This forum is for respectful friendly interaction, not argueing. And there is no reason to post the same thing half a dozen times. I am not an idiot, and I would appreciate it if you made sure not to treat me as such (Not saying you DID or ARE, just asking you not to). If I miss something you write, or I read it but don't note it specifically, that is no reason to get upset with me. I don't want to offend you, and everyone can "not read clearly" at times so try not to be bothered by being misunderstood, or something being overlooked, just post that you've already given the inquired upon info, and I'll reread your older posts. Also I am not trying to say I think your getting upset or anything of the like, just posting this just in case. I don't want to make you angry and sidetrack this thread, as I posted in it because I am interested where it ends up. So again, sorry, and make sure you are posting in a friendly and respoectful manner as not to ruin things for everyone (again, not saying you ARE). ^^ |
| #20RunosMar 14, 2010 18:37:00 | Its lvl 20-30 gestalted, any race, any/all books a.k.a no restrictions, 52 pt buyout, and yes psionics. Gold is 5 million. You can also use dragon magazines and the hyperconscious book |
| #21pergentileMar 14, 2010 23:45:08 | Its lvl 20-30 gestalted, any race, any/all books a.k.a no restrictions, 52 pt buyout, and yes psionics. Gold is 5 million. You can also use dragon magazines and the hyperconscious book 52pt buyout, with ability score increases, 5mil gold of items... that is a brutally powerful character. I think we really might be able to encompass Itachi's artifacts, or the very least Susanoo. But most likely all three. The mirror, would most likely be a force effect, pure and simple. The weapn would be something that casts spells on the one recieving a blow that uses the physical hit to decrease the likelihood of the reciever of the blow making the relevant saves etc. As for Susanoo, I think a strong offense can be made into a strong defense. As I recall, there is something called... prismatic wall? And its a spel that makes a wall that shreds anything that tries to go through it, and is a major pain to counterspell. Response thoughts? I think the artifacts will be hard, but I still think we should try at it. |
| #22RunosMar 15, 2010 0:19:07 | hey thanks for ur help. so far i was thinking wizard with 10 levels of Mind Mage from dragon magazine 313 that will not only make his powers/spells saves a big boost especially for illusions. I also wanted to take a Major bloodline although i dont know which would be prefered. i look forward to u guys input and value them |
| #23Omen_of_PeaceMar 15, 2010 9:08:09 | Solispism also strikes me as a good fit for Tsuyokomi, with just a touch of reflavoring. Susanoo's absolute defense could come from the Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil's class features (violet veil + reactive veil). And since you're being picky about hellfire reflavoring, Blackfire is not a perfect fit for Amaterasu either since it consumes people rather slowly, whereas Amaterasu takes mere seconds. Twinned Maximized Blackfire is more like it. ^^ |
| #24pergentileMar 16, 2010 1:36:31 | Solipsism is sweet. Also, love your DP Omen, Todd Lockwood is amazing. Hellfire abilities, if not spells, are spell like abilities that can be twinned, mazimized, chained, and everything else as well. ^^ I think Mind Mage is a good fit, but I think flat out psionics would be better. Strong Psionics beat out Strong Illusions, because with illusions, your making actual illusions with psionics, your actually putting stuff IN the persons head, which is closer to Tsukiyomi, since it targets only a single person. |
| #25SenevriMar 16, 2010 2:12:23 | 'Tis a fair cop. Come to think of it, maybe something susa-no-oish can be pulled off with Astral Construct? |
| #26RunosMar 17, 2010 0:24:47 | how can i pull it off using astral constructs? |
| #27Ethican2Mar 19, 2010 0:22:23 | erudite with spell power substitution at 1st level almost covers itachi perfectly lol. overchanneling can be used for the physical drawbacks. |
