| #1ghostie1337Apr 24, 2008 15:52:03 | So for a campaign the rules are- ELC 44 66 pointbuy For items- "nothing over 33 million total" :D No teleportation Spells (it is an escape campaign) No Epic Spellcasting I am wondering what you people think. What I am having trouble with is a build, I have no clue what to play. Can any of your minds come up with such an epic build. |
| #2rebel7284Apr 24, 2008 15:59:16 | http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1021590 has some nice ideas for high level casters. Even without epic spells, you have plenty of level 8-9 slots. ![]() Edit: or you can make a dual threat with something like Wiz 4/5, Mind bender 1, Ur Priest 2, Mystic Teurge 10 and pimp it out with some broken classes like epic Incantatrix or epic Dweometer Keeper |
| #3logicninjaApr 24, 2008 15:59:58 | Sorry, but even without epic spellcasting, playing at that level is absolutely pointless. Characters really can be arbitrarily powerful; all that matters is where you want to stop cheesing. Level 44 isn't worth playing. |
| #4ieniemienieApr 24, 2008 16:00:11 | *sigh* Rules of this board: -too tired to link, find them yourselves- Basically provide us with: Information, Information, Information and something else, which I think I am forgetting.... oh I remember, MORE INFORMATION |
| #5phaxiApr 24, 2008 16:04:18 | Trust me, none's gonna make you a level 44 character with that effort from you ![]() |
| #6ghostie1337Apr 24, 2008 16:05:07 | *sigh* I am looking for any kind of build, as I have not settled on what I might try to play. All official 3.5 sources are allowed, except for campaign setting books (so no incantatrix, I already tried). The game is likely to be arbitrarily overpowered, including NPC's/Monsters, so almost anything goes. Mostly what I'm looking for is a suggestion on what kind of build to use, not an exact one. (i.e. what classes/prestige class combinations would work well at this level.) |
| #7logicninjaApr 24, 2008 16:09:56 | Fine: basic guidelines--Epic Bonus Feats are win at this level. Which means that'll you'll want Epic [PrC X], and one which gives bonus feats every three levels, two if possible (but there's few of those). You will want Infinite Deflection and Exceptional Deflection, and will not want to rely on ranged touch attacks too much because of them. Similarily, there's a +10 armor property that reflects all targeted spells; be aware of that. Expect melee enemies to have Evasion, Mettle, and unbeatable saves. Look for uncapped damage spells combined with Intensify Spell. Cutting off line of effect (e.g. by moving yourself into solid rock, like via Xorn Movement + Greater Slide + Multispell) after you go is a great defense. |

| #12logicninjaApr 24, 2008 17:03:35 | You remember me from GiantITP because I posted a guide to wizards there. Another note: Chained Greater Dispel Magic targeting equipment will be unexpected by most, and a great boon. Without protective gear, most people will go down very quickly. You should also have as many defenses against Disjunction as possible--cast spells only with your Multispell action and ready an action to break Line of Effect with your normal one, Without Incantatrix, cleric may be the way to go. DMM(Persistent) + Miracle; take Tenacious Magic for Miracle, and emulate all your important buffs (Giant Size, Greater Blink, Bite of the Werebear, etc) via Miracle. That way, even if they get dispelled, they pop back up in 1d4 rounds. Use Time Stop if they get dispelled (Craft Contingent Spell can even make this contingent--or just the Contingency spell) so that the 1d4 rounds pass in the Time Stop. You can play anti-caster cheese, protecting yourself from most things except Instantaneous Conjurations, by taking Permanent Emanation (Antimagic Field). You raise and lower it as a free action--so raise it whenever you're having spells cast at you. 1000 XP is chump change. Use Gate to call in vastly more epic monsters. Cosmic Descryer lets you cheese the hell out of Holy Word/Blasphemy/etc. by boosting your caster level. It's really cheese if you couple it with, oh, Delay Death. Spell Stowaway(Time Stop) is probably worth having. On a similar note, your enemies might have it, so get 305 feet away from them (or break LoE) before you cast your own TSes, when possible. Oh, and be an Illumian, so you can get bonus spells from your massive STR score. |
