I am starting a PbP campaign soon that is going to be level 50. What would you do? I'd like to stay away from spell casters unless someone can point me to a place that explains epic spells and all very nicely.

That's more than a little vague. :-)

What types of characters do you enjoy playing? What books are available? What other types of characters are others in the game playing?

All books, not sure on other classes though in my past experience they will be exotic and very dynamic. I like to play melee, never done ToB because I don't have the book and never read the new rules.

If I werent asking for help, I would probably make a level 50 fighter. I know that is pointless but that's why I am asking for your help.

Things to aim for:
16 pre-epic bab
at least two types of "9th" magic
Free/reduced metamagic
extra actions
fat stacks of immunities
at will good actions (ie ToB or binder)

Ok, thing is I don't have most of that. I apologize for posting like a douche, when I have the rest of the info I will post again. The game is in concept right now so I came here for a few generalized Ideas to submit for an approval.

thus you are wasting our time....

Ieniemienie's wisdom: Optimization can only be done when there is something to optimize

Non-caster in a 50th level game itself is... can it even be done, without ToB or SOMEthing? The chance of a 50th level noncaster contributing significantly is unlikely.

Even with ToB, you'd have to make up some epic Maneuver progression to be competitive.

Even with ToB, you'd have to make up some epic Maneuver progression to be competitive.

And you'd still fail miserably.

Just do Wizard 5/Incantatrix 5/Shadowcraft Mage 5/Epic Incantatrix 30 and call it a day.

I think a 50th level character can have Time Stop as an SLA, already...

Epic Hathran will have 5 extra epic bonus feats compared to Epic Incantatrix, Circle Magic, and the ability to cast any spell on its spell list spontaneously thanks to Acorn of Far Travel. Thanks to Improved Metamagic feat enough times, their is literally nothing the Epic Incantatrix can do the Epic Hathran can not do, besides the creation of magic items.

If you need to create magic items, that is what leadership or wish is for.

When the level is this high, I'm not even sure the CharOp board is the right place. Many things we take for granted are not valid anymore : rays and targeted spells simply do not work. Ranged attacks don't work either. (see epic armor properties)

I have never played at this level, but it seems to me there are 2 possible answers :
1) buff like mad and then go rampage (sounds like Archivist or Artificer to me)
2) abuse Epic Spellcasting.
(note that you still need Epic Spellcasting in 1) to ward you against AMFs and Disjunctions... and to counterspell other Epic spells possibly)

Gold can buy you anything... except perhaps actions. Go with some classes that give extra actions (Factotum, Swiftblade).
