| #2playswithfireMar 24, 2008 13:26:29 | You'd need to create a savage progression (like in savage species; they may actually be one in there for lycanthropes, but I'm not sure) that spreads out the werewolf benefits over 4 levels (1 wolf HD and 3 level adjustment) |
| #3sinfire_titanMar 24, 2008 13:28:05 | No. No. No. At 1st level, you have a hard time just fighting a Lycan, much less having one in the party. |
| #4playswithfireMar 24, 2008 15:09:46 | A natural werewolf anything is ECL 6, so being one at level one is a bit strong. If you'd be willing to develop your werewolf-ness over several levels, using something like the savage progressions from Savage Species, this is what I've thought of so far. At level 1, choose your base class. Gain the standard features of that class and also low light vision and alternate form (you can only turn into your hybrid form and it does not boost your stats, just gives you the claw and bite attacks) At level 2, do not choose a class level, do not advance BAB, saves, or gain new skill points. You instead get +2 wisdom, Iron Will as a bonus feat, and +2 natural armor At level 3, you take a level of Wolf, so a d8 hit die, 2+int skill points (choosing wolf skills), 0 bab and your fortitude and reflex saves go up 2. Your hybrid form now gives +2 DEX and +2 CON. Still no animal form. Level 4 is like level 2; don't advance anything, but you now get dr 5/silver in hybrid form and lycanthropic empathy Level 5 is another wolf HD, so d8 HD, BAB +1, Fort and Ref saves go up 1, 2+INT skill points. Your hybrid from now gets +2 STR, +4 CON, +4 DEX Level 6 is like 2 and 4. You have animal form and your hybrid and animal forms now have DR 10/silver From there, do whatever you like. Rough chart of what I'm suggesting. This is off the top of my head, so there may be a better ordering |

There was a savage progression for werewolves posted on the site for a while... Give me a bit to see if I can dig it up. |

| #8ejothimsMar 24, 2008 15:29:02 | Here's the werewolf classprogression http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040117a (it's after the ghost progression), it handles both afflicted and natural lycanthropes. Beat me to it. For clarification: You take 2 (or 3) levels in the "Werewolf Template Class" (Table SP-16). You can't take only 1. If you're afflicted, you take 2. Natural you take 3. You then have the option of taking levels in either the "Wolf (Lycanthrope) Class" (Table SP-17) or the "Dire Wolf (Lycanthrope) Class" (Table SP-18). If choosing one of these options, you have to take all the levels it gives before being able to take any others. Personally, if you're going to do this, I'd go with Werewolf Lord (the Dire Wolf), as when put into a progression like this, it plays pretty well and gives some nice bonuses (including large size in Hybrid form). |
