| #1parasynMar 29, 2011 20:29:10 | in the next 3 weeks or so my gaming group will be having a "gladiator session" we will be optimizing characters at level 1 and 20 (probably other levels in between but not sure about those yet) and having them fight it out in various arenas constructed by our mapper. We can enter 3 characters each per bracket i need some ideas for the level one bracket any class would be appreciated but i would like 1 of my chars to be a druid (unless they suck @ lvl 1) so far i have an ubercharger http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=286314 (endurance and diehard only there because i couldn't find any other feats) any suggestions for that would be nice as well. we can use every 3.5 book except Dragon Magazine & compendium Dungeon Magazine BoVD and BoED (no planar shepherd or thrallherd) |

Ride a Pony and run away while raining arrows. Build 2. Human Druid 1. Be a druid and hide. Have a wolf companion. Spend all your money on guard dogs. Build 3. Wizard. Feats- Improved init. Tactic- Cast sleep. |

the archery build is a good idea. I'll definitely give it a try unfortunately we can't have any hirelings/animals except 1 mount animal companion or familiar sleep generally works well, but killing them after seems like a problem with the wizards low damage (maybe using a scythe) if you used this tactic against the barb i linked in my fp you would have to roll extremely high damage to gaurantee a kill (unlesss i decided to roll a non-gnome and give him a decent str) thanks for the ideas though |
| #4KruskApr 01, 2011 6:00:41 | Sleep- Carry the biggest X4 exotic weapon you can find (A really big pick or something). Have a str of like 14ish. CDG is an auto crit, 3*4=12 minimum damage or, more probably, a lot more. Shame you can't buy helpers. |
| #5ymuckluckApr 02, 2011 6:29:09 | Dragonfire Adept with Entangeling exhalation? Kobold Sorcerer with Power Word: Pain? |
| #6bonzaiApr 02, 2011 13:44:19 | Azurian Incarnate with Expanded Soulmeld Capacity and an incarnate feat (for the +1 essentia). Shape lightning guantlets and mantle of flame. Use expanded soulmeld capacity on the guantlets and 2 essentia for 3d6 lightning damage touch attacks, and one essentia into the mantle of flame for a 2d6 fire shield. Spend your starting gold on the best armor you can buy (chain shirt?), and max out dex and con. If healing soul was the incarnum feat, then you can shift all your essentia into it, and heal 6hp, 3 times a day as a swift action. So you can fight a bit, swift action invest your essentia into it, and still deal a d6 lighting with a d6 fire shield, and next turn swift action heal 6 hp 3 times. |
| #7KrootRebellionApr 04, 2011 3:05:52 | For my lvl 1 char, if in a "one-and-done" situation, I would stack dex and imp. initiative/ quick reconoiter - you can have a very awesome barbarian rager with an avr. dam. output on like 21-ish pr. round; but without any rounds that damage will be exactly 0. Immediate actions will also be a lifesaver!! If you for some reason don't get your turn first, you need to be able to act out of turn. |
| #8awaken_D_M_golemApr 12, 2011 17:34:58 | Your DM is gonna need to put limits in place. Like Pun-pun is level 1, therefore ... (wink) Handle Animal at level 1 + herd of Cows = massive trample damage. PhaedrusXY has an early level opt guide, somewhere around here still, and over at Brilliantgameologists.com. |
| #9The_Crimson_DawnApr 13, 2011 14:31:53 | Warlocks are nasty at level one due to summon swarm. Auto damage in an area that is high enough to kill quickly is nice. It quickly loses steam though. |
| #10DLoFunkApr 17, 2011 16:56:57 | Race: Human or Strongheart Halfling Class: Wizard Specialist (Evocation) Feats:Metamagic School Focus Fell Drain Cast Sonic Snap (0th level, Spell Compendium p195) with Fell Drain (+2 level adjustment,LM p27) and Metamagic School Focus (-1 level adjustment) as a first level spell. Sonic Snap gives a will save to avoid the deafening effect but only SR stops the 1 point of damage it deals and that one point is enough to trigger Fell Drain, giving your 1st level opponent 1 Negative Level, which automatically kills him. |
| #11aelryinthApr 17, 2011 21:20:11 | Where's Metamagic School foCus from? I'd use efficient metamagic, myself. PRereqs on Fell Drain? ==Aelryinth |
| #12DLoFunkApr 18, 2011 8:08:24 | Metamagic School Focus (Complete Mage p.45) Fell Drain has no pre-req's |
