I have a 5th level Half Giant Barbarian in Dark Sun. About to level up to 6th. Should I go to 6th level Barbarian or change it up?

Stick with Barbarian unless you've already set up for a multiclass, example would be if you've taken Power Attack (hopefully you have), and Improved Bull Rush already (you may not have), if you have then you can take Fighter at 6 and get Shock Trooper using your Fighter bonus feat which leaves your general feat free for Leap Attack. If you're not set up for that combo, just keep going, Barbarian's pretty solid at doing what it does and most classes or PRC's you'd mix with it will end up with you being less good at either classes thing. Frenzied Berserker's solid but FEAT INTENSIVE and dangerous (most of the community highly reccomends you use all of your Frenzy/day in a padded cell of some sort BEFORE going adventuring each day).

The other prestige class that comes to mind is Bear Warrior, but that's after 7th level since you need +7 BAB, and for flavour you'd have to have something like a tribe who remembered bears from old legends before defilers turned most of the world into a wasteland (assuming they had bears then).

It seems initially weird as a combination with Dark Sun material, but on the other hand, transforming into an unrecognizable shaggy monster would make you seem like a bizarre mutant to most people who've never seen a bear, which seems right in the appropriate style.  Or you could just ignore the "this is a bear" part of the flavour and just have the character turn into a feral monster (which happens to use the statistics of bear).

And yeah, that.

Level 6 and 7 barbarian kind of suck. You could consider putting your next few in fighter, so you can grab some feats that would let you into a prestige class of your choice later on. Although your favored class is psy warrior so, if you use multiclassing penalties I'd skip that and just do more barbarian I guess.

Thanks Andarius, Slagger and Krusk, the advice is helpful. Looking at the addition of fighter I might hold off until 7th then? 6th gives me an extra attack and that may be more useful at the moment than another class.Still looking though so If anything comes to mind let me know. I would say having a bearform would scare the crap out of the peons.Trying to befriend people seeing as my Half-giant is an escaped slave from New Gustenal.

Note that unless something really strange is going on you will get an "additional" attack at 6th-level regardless what Full BAB class you take.  A Barbarian 6 and Barbarian5/Fighter1 BOTH have +6 BAB and thus get itterative attacks at +6/+1.  When you look at those class tables showing the number of attacks the ONLY figure that matters is the first one which is the sum of all of your classes; the number that follow that are based on that first number.

If you have a Barbarian 5/Ranger3/Fighter3 you may see BAB listing of +5, +3, and +3.  To find the true attack you add them together and get +11.  Now to find how many extra/itterative attacks you can make as part of a full attack you take that number and subtract 5.  As long as you get a positive number when you include -5 you keep going.  Starting at +11 when you go -5 you are left with +6 so you will also get an attack with a +6 modifier.  Do that again from +6 and the -5 leaves you with +1 so you now get a THIRD attack.  One more time puts you at -4 so no more attacks but your total BAB +11 entitles you to attacks at +6 and +1 as well despite none of those individual classes showing "extra" attacks.

The bear form isn't exactly something you show everyone, it replaces Rage stats while raging with bear stats. Thus it only comes up when raging. Also, everything StevenO says, important to know.

Steven gives a good summary of BAB that you need to read.

Fighter 1 would give you that same extra attack.
