| #1poodleJan 08, 2009 5:30:12 | hello all sorry to bother, i am playing a gestalt camping and i want to play a necromancer Lich/dark Mage/wizard i was hopeing that the necromancer side of the character would be cleric based, and the wizard mage side would be involved in fiendish shadowy magic i have tried to make some progression but they do not seem to good, if possible i would like the necromancer side to make it easier to become a Lich |

It's a Cleric based PrC that grants you the ability to become a Dry Lich (which is basically just a better version of a lich) with no LA at its 10th level. Very handy. As for Shadowy Magic... Shadowcraft Mage obviously springs to mind. If I were going to do this, I might go with a Gnome, and do something like this: Gnome Cleric 10/Walker in the Waste 10//Illusionist 14/Tainted Sorcerer 1/Shadowcraft Mage 5. To avoid having PrCs on both sides at the same time, start Walker in the Waste at level 4 (thank you early entry PrCs), and then go from there. Take Tainted Sorcerer whenever you can afford an item that gives you the Moment of Perfect Mind manuever (in Tome of Battle, it's about 3k IIRC), as that will ensure you never fail the save and progress the class further than you want. That class will remove your need for one of your casting stats, which is very important. With that said, you might want to use Archivist instead of Cleric. WitW doesn't progress Rebuke Undead, so there's no major loss there, and Archivist is Int based. JaronK |

| #4poodleJan 08, 2009 18:00:09 | thank you both for the responses, i really like the progression however i should of said my Dm is making a race for me so i can only play a set up that is not race limited, i am sorry i did not think of it at the time ![]() i was trying to use the legendary classes but i have forgotten which book they were in and don`t want to have to ask for all my lent books back thank you for the cleric side of the progression JaronK/Tshern i will definitely use it it will makes things allot easier. as for the wizard side of the class any other suggestion would be welcome i think i am going for evil heavy damage dealer. |
| #5valdaJan 08, 2009 18:06:40 | i am not a gestal expert, but i guess you will be fine with: Cleric10/Walker in the waste10 // Wizard10/ Incantatrix 10 Focus on necromancy and you will be a bad lich! but, as i said, i know very little about gestalt ( never played one) |
| #6jaronkJan 08, 2009 18:25:06 | Illegal anyway... you can't have PrCs on both sides at the same time, so there's no way to have 20 levels of PrCs in one build. Okay, so first of all I forgot to mention that yes, Cloistered Cleric is probably better than regular Cleric. Now, Shadowcraft Mage does have an adaptation for non gnomes, so you might want to still consider it. JaronK |
| #7ithamarJan 08, 2009 18:41:02 | What's the starting level? If it's high enough, just go with Dread Necromancer. At level 20 you get to become a lich for free. Sprinkle cleric on the other side with whatever PrC's you might like and you're all set. |
| #8poodleJan 08, 2009 20:55:58 | the level range is 1-31, i was trying to get to Lich before 20 which was why a like Witw so much, and so it makes dread necromacer a little redundant. (also i am not made about the class) i was thinking of making the wizards side a red Mage and using circle magic to pump up spells but i am not sure i want that many followers also i don`t no much about the Cloistered Cleric i admit but aren`t its only bonuses a few wizards spells and an effective bardic knowledge check ? thanks for the responses so far ![]() |
