| #1thisiscleverJan 11, 2009 20:28:50 | This might not be the right place to ask this, but here it goes... Okay, so in my current campaign, I just maxed out Walker in the Wastes, making me a CE cleric of Nerrul 5/Walker 10. This means that I have ascended to Dry Lichood (dry lich is a template very similar to regular lich, but with a few extra abilities, like giant sand cloud following me around!!!. Oh, and I have a weakness to water:eek I was just informed that the campaign's going to be switching gears- we're now trudging into a large city that's nowhere near the desert. So here's my question: how to disguise myself? I can supress the cloud of doom... usually. It requires "concentration", according to sandstorm, so if I get hit in melee, there's a fair chance that I'll increase the local temperature by 50 degrees. Skeletons are easy to masque, as they move like humans, and I can just cover their faces. The sand golem, however... If it helps- our party consists of: A tiefling rogue 5/assasin5/ghost-faced killer 5 (no, he's not terribly optimized. We used LA buyoff.) A scablands orc barbarian 14/fighter 1 (...yeah) A couple of my skeletons, who work primarily as archers. A sand golem. Really. So we lack a dedicated arcanist. Help me. |

You could always go the easy route, and use a wand of Disguise Undead, as well (Spell Compendium Page 66). Short duration, though. The sand golem...well, it's Huge sized, so you're going to have issues there. Extra planar location to hold it in until you need it? That's going to be the tricky one. Any particular reason you have to hide the sand golem? |

It requires "concentration", according to sandstorm, so if I get hit in melee, there's a fair chance that I'll increase the local temperature by 50 degrees. Actually, according to Sandstorm, it takes only a free action each round to consciously suppress your Greater Drought ability, so you're good as long as you remain conscious, which shouldn't be hard for an undead character. Also, I second the robes idea, and I say get some big ones for your Sand Golem as well - if anyone asks, he's your stoic Giant friend. |

I'd say that's entirely unrealistic. Any particular reason you have to hide the sand golem? Good Question. Can you just waltz in guns blazing so to speak? Is anyone really gonna mess with a Lich Mage surrounded by his Skeleton Attendants, a battletorn Orc frothing at the mouth and a Frickin Tieflingn WITH A HUGE SIZE GOLEM OF SAND AS HIS BODYGUARD?!!! Yeah the commoners will really mess with you then. Got any ranks in intimidate? Seriously why are you hiding with that party? |
| #6thisiscleverJan 12, 2009 18:44:07 | ] Actually, that's a very good point.:D |
| #7umopapisdnJan 12, 2009 18:59:27 | At HUGE size??!!! I'd say that's entirely unrealistic. How is a huge sized, humanoid-shaped construct disguised as huge sized, humanoid-shaped giant at all unrealistic? Or is it the giant part that gets you? Because depending on the city (and especially with high-level characters), it may not be too implausible for the city to be visited, if not inhabited, by a giant or two now and then. In fact, with that logic, you may not bother hiding the golem - after all, a big city may be no stranger to golems as well. I'd still keep the skeletons disguised though, if only for the comfort of those around you. Walking through a small village undisguised and intentionally threateningly is one thing, but if I were your DM, if a party like yours were to make a scene in a large city, they would be very soon be dealt with by many high-level officials, law-enforcers, and mercenaries. I would try and look a little less scary, just to be safe. |

| #9mcpoyoJan 14, 2009 22:00:02 | No, I meant why bother hiding the golem? If you have a golem, what's the big deal? It's not like it's some huge sized flesh golem, after all. Also, leave it outside the city? |
| #10atomickitkatJan 15, 2009 18:54:10 | I can't remember if the Sand Golem is amorphous. If it is, just pour it into a portable hole(or very large capacity bag of holding) and call it a day.:P |
