| #2masterjoda999Dec 18, 2008 23:33:18 | Just need a caster level of 11+, the Craft Wondrous Item feat, and the time and money to craft a 120k gp phylactery. Oh, and a willingness to choke down a +4 LA, which, unless you become a lich at the very last level of the campaign, is very, very bad for casters. |
| #3jaronkDec 19, 2008 0:29:23 | Or you could be a Dread Necromancer and make it to level 20. The third option is Walker in the Waste 10. JaronK |
| #4ChristopherGrovesDec 19, 2008 2:18:56 | Walker in the Waste is the best in-game option typically. Is this related to your "Nations" thread? |
| #5EndarireDec 19, 2008 2:21:48 | Lich: "Because you'll never pay more to gain a level adjustment." |
| #6cole_caecusDec 19, 2008 4:56:36 | Yes it is related to the nations thread, but its for a different character. Idk if i want to do a dwarf or not, and since the game will go thru several lifetimes, id like to figure out how to not have to keep going thru different characters, and lichdom was an idea and so im trying to figure out how viable that is. i know i wont figure it out for several lifetimes, as arcane spells are kinda restricted and have to be researched and discovered, but i want to look ahead and figure out what to do about being a lich. |
| #7ChristopherGrovesDec 19, 2008 5:07:08 | Well, the Walker in the Waste (Sandstorm) prestige class eventually gives you the Dry Lich template. Awesome choice if you're starting in or near a wasteland. |
| #8jaronkDec 19, 2008 6:15:22 | Walker in the Waste is a divine PrC so... wait for it... Archivist! And then just PrC into Walker in the Waste. That said, if you're doing this, try to make your settlement be somewhere deserty, so it makes sense. JaronK |
| #9ChristopherGrovesDec 19, 2008 6:59:00 | Deserty bordering mountains. Gold Dwarf Archivist -> Walker in the Waste fo-sho. |
| #10cole_caecusDec 19, 2008 15:42:12 | Ok, sounds good. just one question....what book is archivist in? i have every dnd 3.0 and 3.5 book i know about, but i cant find it, unless i missed it somewhere. |
| #11jaronkDec 19, 2008 16:01:05 | Heroes of Horror. Walker in the Waste is in Sandstorm, by the way. JaronK |
| #12idontknowDec 22, 2008 7:35:21 | The +2 con of Dwarves is kind of wasted because you're gonna lose you constitution score anyway. |
