Hello all! New to the forum!

Me and my friends just started up a new campaign somewhat unexpectedly; what began as an excuse to drink beer and kill the other PC:s seems to be developing into something quite interesting and not as inter-party violent as expected.

My character is a lesser (Faerûnian) drow, Lolth-touched, swashbuckler 3 rouge 2. I'm planning on going assassin and taking Daring Outlaw when it's time to level the next time. My feats are Education and Knowledge Devotion, and he's the epitome of the well-mannered, highborn, well-educated, exiled and very lethal drow. His stats are 22/18/19/16/14/10, and he's taken the SLA-giving alternative class feature for swashbucklers as well as Death's Bane (I think that's the name) alternative class feature for rouges; he can sneak and crit undead for half damage. However, I'm not really sure what to do with him later on, I suppose I'll at least take a few levels in assassin to get spells and uncanny dodge... but I'd really like some input on what to do next. The party contains a barbarian 1/druid 5 complete with Fleshraker, a necropolis-born human cleric of Velsharoon 5 as well as a halfling rouge 1/wizard 5.

Considering his stats, I'd not be averse to something more combat-oriented since the Death Attack save probably'd (I don't know, I usually do paladins, noble elf wizards and the like =P) be hard to get up to effective levels, and he's been beaut with a glaive and a ton of sneaking skills... perhaps a somewhat unorthodox approach.

Everything excepting the Eberron books, and possibly them as well, if I the DM's had a good day and I can come up with a good reason to include something, I'd reckon. We haven't ventured into psionics before, but I hardly believe that the DM would disapprove.

as a melee combatant you will get very good mileage out of either warblade or swordsage levels from Tome of Battle: The book of nine swords. If you want to be more sneaky I'd suggest swordsage with shadow hand maneuvers/stances. Warblade is more focused on being a straightforward melee badass. Blending these two classes (or any martial adept classes) works very well also because your initiator level in a martial adept class is always equal to your levels in that class+ half your levels in other classes.

if you take the shadow blade feat and use a shadow hand discipline preferred weapon you can add your dexterity to damage while in a shadow hand stance which is a pretty popular idea here for dex-based melee especially in conjunction with weapon finesse.

you would probably want to end up with something kinda like this:

Thanks! I suppose I'll take Swordsage... I haven't used anything from Tome of Battle yet, so I didn't really consider those classes. Though I suppose that I won't take the Shadow Hand weapons and feats, with the character being considerably more strong than nimble (since it'd replace the strength bonus, no?)... not that he isn't nimble. One simply has to love Lolth-touched, though. =)

Check out the Drow of Underdark book. Some nice feats and some good uses of innate abilities.

there is some contention but i think the general consensus is with shadow blade you can add both strength and dexterity to damage
