| #1snexApr 24, 2008 15:30:07 | im trying to come up with a cleric build that is centered around misdirection and summoning. the basic idea is to cast invisibility, use dimension door-type spells, and then DMM quicken summonings while invisible. i want to take the malconvoker PrC for the summoning benefits, but im also looking for a PrC that will focus on the trickery domain. all 3.5 books are available, but id prefer non-setting specific things over setting specific. since im already losing a caster level for malconvoker, i need a PrC that doesnt lose any more. cloistered cleric and spontaneous domain casting are a must for the skill points and more invisibility uses per day. feats will include the required augment summoning and skill focus (conj) for the malconvoker, as well as DMM quicken, and possibly the summoning reserve feat. ive looked through most of the stuff i have and i cant seem to find much related to the trickery domain. any help would be appreciated. |

| #3davethemagicweaselApr 24, 2008 17:02:21 | Books allowed? Dark Pilgrim of Takhisis in one of the Dragonlance books (Holy Orders maybe? Not sure) could be right up your alley. Not directly related to the trickery domain, but gives full casting, social skill buffs, Hide in Plain Sight, Divine Grace, a bit of sneak attack ... it's very nice. |

| #5aftercrescentApr 24, 2008 17:43:42 | Shadowcraft Mage :D |
| #6phaedrusxyApr 24, 2008 17:49:18 | Shadowcraft Mage :D I thought of suggesting that, but I'm not sure what he means by "Focus on the trickery domain". SCM focuses on "trickery", but on the domain? I don't know. |
| #7snexApr 24, 2008 18:53:19 | shadowcraft mage requires the ability to cast a shadow spell of 4th level or higher, which a cleric will not have. what im really looking for is something that synergizes with the granted power of the trickery domain and its spell list. in the absence of that, anything at all that grants full divine casting and has easy entry prereqs will do. i might end up working a few levels of thaumatergist in there. |
| #8phaedrusxyApr 24, 2008 23:31:45 | There are ways to be able to cast a 4th level shadow spell as a cleric. 1) Shadow domain, Eberron, 2) Heighten the spell Dark Way (SC) to 4th, 3) take the Initiate of Cyric feat. I think SCM does go well with Trickery thematically, and synergizes with it fairly well (I play a cleric/SCM with the Trickery and Illusion domains. Cyric in FR has both, and the Initiate of Cyric feat can get you a 4th level shadow spell without using Heighten cheese). |
| #9ronyonApr 26, 2008 0:31:05 | How about the Nightcloak? http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20040522a Here are the entry requirements: Alignment: Neutral evil. Base Attack Bonus: +3. Skills: Bluff 2 ranks, Hide 4 ranks, Move Silently 2 ranks, Perform (any) 4 ranks. Feats: Iron Will, Spell Focus (Enchantment, Illusion, or Necromancy). Spells: Ability to cast 3rd-level divine spells. A cleric candidate must have access to the Evil domain. I dont know if this has been updated. If not well it does have one crappy prerequisite:Iron Will, and a marginal Domain. The Domain pain could be nixed via the Substitute Domain spell. Other than that, well Completive and Paragnostic Apostle seem to be great Cloistered Cleric choices, as is the Divine Disciple .Easy entries, nice benefits. |
| #10smurfalotApr 26, 2008 0:41:52 | I suggest the "Magical Trickster" from Complete Scoundrel. It is only a 3 level PrC, you lose one spell casting level, but one of the things you get is: Metamagic Trick (Ex): Beginning at 3rd level, you understand how to apply the principle of tricks to your spellcasting. Once per day you can apply the effect of any one metamagic feat you know to a spell as you cast it without altering the spell’s effective level. The spell slot adjustment of the metamagic feat can’t exceed four. You also get a bonus MM feat. |
