| #2cycadaJun 19, 2009 0:54:52 | I know this isn't very helpful, as it's more a criticism of your post than your build, but I'm pretty sure that it's a breach of someone's copyright to post that much information on the abilities.....just saying.... ~Cy Edit: Figured I might as well help in a positive way as well. What does this build do exactly? I mean I get the idea of the MotUH, but why the duskblade levels? And why the UM levels? |
| #3xakypshalornJun 19, 2009 2:05:12 | The point of the Duskblade levels is to gain the channel spell ability. Master of the Unseen Hand grants the ability to make normal weapon attacks through Telikinesis. This allows channel spell to be used at range. |
| #4mathias1313Jun 19, 2009 10:03:11 | Ok first off good catch on the Chanel spell ability, that didnt occur to me ![]() So now to things I notice and maybe suggestions: -Can you take Practiced Spell caster for a class you dont have yet? -Combat expertise is a pre req for Imp trip -What does Reserves of strength do and where did you find it? -Why take reach spell and silent spell? I built one of these awhile ago and I had fun using telekinesis to wield a weapon + Steel Dance ( from spell comp ) to attack with 2 more as well as Animate weapon. Anyway I hope any of the above helps. |

Master of the Unseen Hand grants the ability to make normal weapon attacks through Telikinesis. This allows channel spell to be used at range. Lol. My 1st post here, and I get ninja'd. Then the boards go down. Now, nearly 12 hours after 1st trying to make this post... What Xak said. This build would be quite scary with Gestalt, as it would get a full attack channeling at range. With full Wu Jen levels... Unless I am mistaken this spell would be fairly brutal to hit with, doing around 8 to STR and CON per hit, if you could only fit in a full attack of duskblade for 8*4 = 32 potential damage to each. If you crit :P WITHERING PALM Necromancy Level: Cleric 7, wu jen 7 Components: V, S Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Touch Target: Living creature touched Duration: Instantaneous Saving Throw: Fortitude negates Spell Resistance: Yes Your successful melee touch attack deals 1 point of Strength damage and 1 point of Constitution damage per two caster levels to the target (maximum of 15 points each). If you score a critical hit, the subject takes ability drain instead. |
| #6nice2meetuJun 19, 2009 21:34:09 | When I read MotUH I always recall a movie in that one guy did use telekinetic grapple with awesome and win. Then I think of brilliant energy longswords in red. And then I try to kick in renegade mastermaker and use the warforged 1 feat for "adamantine body". Like Duskblade 4+ taking Battle Caster, MotUH 3+, Renegade Mastermaker 10 And finally I think of this: ![]() "Hello there children, how would you like some salt-berry steak? And for desert..." ________ Sorry for being that "way-off" off-topic. But I did hit this thread several times. And I always ended up looking up RM. Then watching SouthPark, hitting this thread again. I had to let it go. Edit: I would drop the late Wu-Jen level to get UM 10. But, I always plan characters with 10 in a PrC to not waste epic feats. Also, given my bias, I would aim for duskblade 4 to get adamant full-plate... Anyway, it's a pretty build. Lot's of +caster for the spell-like. That would be awesome with improved grapple. Pity, Jotunbrud is human :/ |

Cool, I'll remove some, thank you And I believe your question has been answered on the duskblade levels, the UM levels give spellcasting for both classesOk first off good catch on the Chanel spell ability, that didnt occur to me Thank you ![]() Can you take Practiced Spell caster for a class you dont have yet? I'm not sure.. I don't see why not but I coul always swap the first few levels around a bit..? Combat expertise is a pre req for Imp trip? True didn't think of that thanks ![]() What does Reserves of strength do and where did you find it? Dragonlance Campaign Setting and basically you can increase your caster level (even over it's normal limits) by 1, 2, or 3 and be stunned for 1, 2 or 3 rounds respectively. If you are immune to stun you take d6 damage instead. Why take reach spell and silent spell? Silent spell in case he get's silenced, reach spell for no reason really.. Sorry for being that "way-off" off-topic. But I did hit this thread several times. And I always ended up looking up RM. Then watching SouthPark, hitting this thread again. I had to let it go. Lol not a problem, thanks for replying. Do you think 10 levels in UM is better than the 3rd level spell secret? |
| #8nice2meetuJun 20, 2009 11:34:43 | Depends on what you want to still spell. Is there a spell you have aimed for? I thought, that "augment casting" could do the still spell stuff, if you reserve a feat slot for it (which could get rather hard). With the last level of UM it is up to 5th spell level 8 times per day. I thought of having the last +1 of arcane spell power pre-epic. I was comparing it the following way: +1 caster Wu-Jen 1 spell stilled +1 Fort +1 Ref to +1 caster Wu-Jen +1 caster Duskblade +1 arcane spellcaster level augmented casting up by 1 spell level and 1 time per day +1 BaB ^^ +1 Will |
| #9risnerJun 20, 2009 13:02:00 | 3 Duskblade: Practised Spellcaster - Wu Jen Can't take PS:Wu Jen at 3rd with no Wu Jen levels. Swap level 3 and level 4 so you take Wu Jen at 3rd so you may take P.S. Can you use Improved Trip with a Telekinetic weapon? Or why do you have IT? I would consider Arcane Channel similar to Weapon Focus/Power Attack and reject the use of Arcane Channel on a Telekinetic weapon. |
| #10cycadaJun 20, 2009 15:09:49 | Can't take PS:Wu Jen at 3rd with no Wu Jen levels. You can use a telekinetic weapon in every normal way you can use a weapon that was in your hand. It specifically uses trip in the full attack example in saying that it means you can do it multiple times now. The argument for AC is the fact that it specifically says feats, not feats and abilities. Had it said the latter, there would be no doubt in it. Also, since the wording on AC is so vague (IMO) it does leave a little wiggle room. It just says attack, and Telekinetic weapon says that you can attack with the weapon. I mean, a similar case would be a Dancing weapon. If someone said I couldn't use my dancing greatsword to use Arcane Channel, I know I'd be a little upset and confused. :D ~Cy Edit: Also, SwordDisciple, I'd make the suggestion that your 3rd level be Wu Jen, as well as your 4th, both to get that practiced spellcaster feat at 3rd, and also to avoid multiclass penalties, as I don't believe that the Gith have anything but ranger and monk as their favored classes. It would make you have to hold off on the channeling, which sucks, but it'd be the only way of doing it without hampering your overall progression. |
| #11risnerJun 20, 2009 23:52:45 | You can use a telekinetic weapon in every normal way you can use a weapon that was in your hand. While I agree that because it doesn't say "feats and abilities" you are right on straight RAW, I think both Telekinetic Weapons and Dancing Weapons are intended to not be able to be used with Arcane Channel. If you can get a DM to ignore intent and go with straight RAW, good for you. |
| #12SwordDiscipleJun 21, 2009 17:34:27 | Hey guys.. Thanks for all your help. I changed around 3rd & 4th levels, replaced 3rd level of Wu Jen with UM and replaced Reach Spell with Combat Expertise (for improved Trip). I'm actually up to 3rd Level already after a busy weekend playing, so I'll see how things pan out. This will likely be one of the last posts I make on these boards due to the unsavory taste left in my mouth by the attitude of some people who frequent here (Not you Risner - I thank you for challenging the ideas put forward). Thanks all for your input. |
| #13nice2meetuJun 21, 2009 17:44:23 | Have fun |
