Looking for a Solid Domain, Any Ideas?

I've got a 1st level LN cloistered cleric with the Fire domain, who will be going into Church Inquisitor at 4th. Problem is, I can't think of a decent second domain to give the guy. All splatbooks and alternate class features are available.

The character hook is that he is a Mercykiller-style advocate of justice, with few issues about punishing the guilty. Mechanically, he will be acting as a party buffer/problem solver with zen archery+crossbow backup, reasoning that the average adventuring party isn't much more than a group of highly paid vigilantes anyway, and that he can do more for the cause of justice by keeping the party alive rather than torching the nearest thieves guild. Inquisition would fit in perfectly here, but hey, Church Inquisitors get that for free! Any ideas?

Hints on a few flavorful continuations of the build would also be appreciated, I plan on jumping out of Church Inquisitor after the second level.

Thanks in advance. =)

mmhhh ... technically just the usual advice:

take planning domain to get extend spell feat, switch to knowledge devotion and get DMM persist asap ... so you will have full bab (divine power persisted) for the little cost of a nightstick ...

or alternetaively you could take the luck domain - one reroll does'nt hurt at all

My favourite is the Magic domain for access to wizard wands and scrolls.

Travel, magic, planning, spell and transformation are solid, too.

what patron do you have?

already you have :

Fire.... Turn or destroy water creatures as a good cleric turns undead. Rebuke, command, or bolster fire creatures as an evil cleric rebukes undead. Use these abilities a total number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier.

Knowledge ... Add all Knowledge skills to your list of cleric class skills. You cast divination spells at +1 caster level.

and you will get:

Inquisition (CDiv p139) .... +4 bonus on all Dispel Checks

all of the suggestions are good ..... also since you plan to:

"a party buffer/problem solver with zen archery+crossbow"

Useful Domains:
Elf (PGF p86) (FR p63) .... Gain Feat: Point Blank Shot.

Planning (CWar p115) .... Gain Feat: Extend Spell.

Time (PGF p91) ... Gain Feat: Improved Initiative.

Magic ..... Use scrolls, wands, and other devices with spell completion or spell trigger activation as a wizard of one-half your cleric level (at least 1st level). For the purpose of using a scroll or other magic device, if you are also a wizard, actual wizard levels and these effective wizard levels stack.

Exorcism (Eb p106) ..... You may force possessing spirits out of a subject’s body by making a Turn Check that can turn the possessing creature’s HD. If successful, the possessor cannot attempt to possess the subject again for at least 24 hours.

Glory (CDiv p139) ... Turn Undead with a +2 bonus on the Turning Check & +1d6 on the Turning Damage Check.

Moon (PGF p88) ... You may Turn / Destroy Lycanthropes, up to 3 + Charisma modifier times per day.

it really depends on what you plan to do after this.... but any of these domains are good choices

Your theme might work well with:

Tyranny (if the people disobey, oppress them!)
Balance (keep them in order)
Nobility (law comes from the nobles)
Pride (of course I'm doing right!)
Retribution (eye for an eye!)
Wrath (SMITE the WICKED! YARGH!)
Glory (uhm, for the upholding of the law!)
Law (Law is weak, though, so fuggetaboudit)

Most of those are in Spell Compendium. Planning, Travel, and Time are considered the strongest spells you can get, though, but I don't really see how they fit in as well.

Law is a weak domain, but Law Devotion isn't a bad feat for a Melee cleric, and fits well stylistically with a Church Inquisitor. So, if you don't need an actual domain other than Fire for your first three levels, Law Devotion and Knowledge Devotion are where I'd start.
