| #1lonestrangerSep 28, 2007 2:27:10 | I know this is going to sound a little odd but does anyone know of a template to give a character extra legs? I know there's the tauric template but that's not the kind of thing I'm looking for. Is there a template somewhere that let's a humanoid type creature/character have an extra leg or two? If you can give me the source I'd be very happy. |
| #2surrealSep 28, 2007 2:37:10 | There's a template in DMG 2 for extra arms, though I thnk it's only meant for NPCs. That's the best I can think of. You can probably modify it for extra legs. Become a quadruped, increase carrying capacity, possible increase speed. |
| #3lonestrangerSep 29, 2007 3:28:29 | Sensible, I can see that, it could be worth looking into. Now for the combination bump and asking for other options, anyone else have anything? |
| #4atomickitkatSep 29, 2007 6:02:35 | Sorry, no templates I can think of. Fiendish Grafts can tack on some legs, but I think they're replacements. Now, if you could argue that having 2 of that leg graft that gives a minus to your land speed "because your legs are mismatched" should neutralise the penalty...:P |
| #5zombiegleemaxSep 29, 2007 9:07:55 | I think arachnoid gives some extra limbs... don't remember if it's suitable for PC usage, though. |
| #6iriansibeSep 29, 2007 9:24:08 | I remember a template that adds on like a prestige class. You need a few points in Use Magic Device and an item drow uses on their spiders. After a few levels, you get a about 4 extra legs. The Book of Vile Darkness also has a cleric level 2 spell called Spider Legs. Gives your 4 extras and maybe you can have it made permanent. |

| #8thaumaturgistSep 29, 2007 10:53:09 | The template in dmg II would be the best bet, i just checked it and it does grant you extra legs. And your speed increases by 20 feet ![]() It's either extra legs or extra arms ^^ |
| #9atomickitkatSep 30, 2007 1:34:14 | The Song & Silence PrC was Fang of Lolth. Granted 2 extra arms(clawed) and a poisoned bite attack, along with wall crawling and immunity to mind-affecting effects(without the pesky intelligence loss that usually accompanies it). |
| #10cyrocloudSep 30, 2007 10:08:31 | there is a template in the back of MM2 i don't remeber what i was called but it smashed to creatures together and it might be able to give you extra legs. |
| #11tshernSep 30, 2007 10:26:02 | Does the Insecticle template do anything like that? |
| #12raphael_maureSep 30, 2007 11:18:25 | there is a template in the back of MM2 i don't remeber what i was called but it smashed to creatures together and it might be able to give you extra legs. The aformentioned Tauric, discarded by the OP already. BTW, I'm growing really curious, LoneStranger: what are you using the extra legs for? |
| #13atomickitkatSep 30, 2007 22:02:19 | The aformentioned Tauric, discarded by the OP already. Count as mounted? Increased load capacity? ![]() |
| #14lonestrangerOct 01, 2007 1:16:31 | Basically I wanted to do something different with a character, do something with a different look than normal. Thank you everyone for your suggestions, and if anyone does come up with anything else by all means post it up here. |
| #15surrealOct 01, 2007 1:21:11 | Can you play a bauriar? The one in Planar Handbook is only LA+1 (no racial hd) and is a very good race. |
| #16lonestrangerOct 02, 2007 1:52:29 | Not familiar with that race, I could look at it at least. Where are the Fiendish Grafts? And where is arachnoid at? Basically I want to see both of them to see if they could be viable options. |
| #17rollad20Oct 02, 2007 2:14:49 | fiendish grafts are in BoVD of Book of Vile Darkness dont know about arachnoid |
| #18atomickitkatOct 02, 2007 10:00:32 | Arachnoid is City of the Spider Queen/Underdark, but only used for Animal/Magical Beast, for the most part. Fiendish Grafts are more detailed in Fiend Folio than BoVD. |
| #19phaedrusxyOct 02, 2007 10:45:17 | Doesn't insectile in Savage Species give you extra legs? You could also play a centaur. |
| #20atomickitkatMar 16, 2008 9:32:11 | Doesn't insectile in Savage Species give you extra legs? You could also play a centaur. Actually, it gives you 4 extra arms(doesn't that make you arachnoid rather than insectile?), which cannot be used for attacks. However, taking a PrC/BC that grants Claws will bypass the restriction. |
