| #1j2.504Dec 01, 2011 17:12:37 | I was reading Frostburn yesterday, and found the Frostrager prc. The 3rd level ability is what I'm interested in. Essentially it gives the Frostrager immunity to cold, and on top of that the character actually heals when he is hit with cold based magic, etc. What I'm looking for is other prc's/classes/pc playable races that have a similar ability (not limited to cold, but any specified type of damage). (Essentially the ability to heal from taking a certain type of damage). I'm looking for this as a general tool for developing future builds (particularly themed druids, etc. like a fire based character, an ice based character, etc.). I see this being particularly useful (from an action economy standpoint) for themed caster types who can benefit from casting a (or being n the range of another characters') damaging area type spell while within the area of effect. (Think of a "tomb tainted" dread necro as an example). If this is already available in a "lists of" type thread, that would be great. So, to start off the list I have: Tomb tainted soul feat - to gain healing from negative energy. Frostrager (Frostburn) for cold based attacks. I'm thinking an elemental type prc or feat tree may be able to accomplish this as well? |

(Such as a making a fire based creature with the frostrager prc become a nasty "change-up" for an adventuring party who try cold based magic against what they think is a fire based creature - but find out the creature is immune to both fire and cold, and actually heals from cold damage.) |

| #4ElVizardDec 01, 2011 21:15:51 | Storm Elemental (MM3 p. 48) has sonic and electric healing (both Ex), so you can use Master transmorgrifist to have them as an immediate action. Skindance (MM3 p. 158) has RE based on the last energy type that damaged him Psions can spend PP to gain RE (10 to 30 depending on your level) as an immediate action. And they have a power that absorbs energy to use it as energy beams Hope that help you |

| #6j2.504Dec 02, 2011 21:34:19 | That's a good start - thanks for the posts so far. Any more templates, classes, feats, or prc's out there? Even spells could be used for this type of character (if permanencied). Full casting classes/prc's would be optimal (if they exist). |
| #7New-ShadowDec 02, 2011 22:44:11 | Mantle of the Fiery Spirit/Icy Soul from Sandstorm/Frostburn permanately give the Fire/Cold Subtypes respectively; though if someone casting MDJ or similar spells has a higher CL than the person who cast either "Mantle" spell, the spell goes bye-bye. Wrymsbane Helm from Dragon Magic gives Immunity to Electricity as a Weapon of Legacy ability. Incarnate from Magic of Incarnum turns you into an Outsider of an alignment subtype at lv. 20, and one of the PrC's in M.O.I. turns you into a Native Outsider. Give me a bit and I'll see what I can find. |
| #8KruskDec 03, 2011 8:31:19 | Flesh golem gives A magical attack that deals electricity damage breaks any slow effect on the golem and heals 1 point of damage for every 3 points of damage the attack would otherwise deal. If the amount of healing would cause the golem to exceed its full normal hit points, it gains any excess as temporary hit points. For example, a flesh golem hit by a lightning bolt heals 3 points of damage if the attack would have dealt 11 points of damage. A flesh golem golem gets no saving throw against attacks that deal electricity damage. Thats gives a really sweet mad scientist ascetic if you want to somehow bolt tesla coils on. (Wands of lightning bolt maybe?) It is probably doable with half-golem, but away from the book. |
