Why? Why make a build for him?.

Easy, because it's fun :D.

So, here's what I was thinking:

Human Sorcerer 1/Warlock 4/Eldritch Theurge 10/Hellfire Warlock 3/??? 2

1.- Precocious Apprentice
1.- Skill Focus (Perform [sing])
3.- Practiced Spellcaster (Sorcerer)
6.- Empower Spell
9.- Fell Animate
12.- Rapid Metamagic
15.- Improved Toughness
18.- ???

Abilities (32-Point buy)

Str 10 (2)
Dex 16 (10)
Con ---
Int 16 (10)
Wis 8
Cha 16 (10)

Books I'm using

Complete Arcane and Mage
Libris Mortis
Fiendish Codex II

But the books I have are:

*Complete Arcane, Divine, Warrior, Crusader, Scoundrel, and Mage
*Expanded Psionics
*Races of Dragon, Destiny, Wild, and Eberron
*BoVD
*BoED
*Draconomicon
*PHB II
*Libris Mortis
*Lords of Madness

Why sorcerer? He's pulled off a couple of things that only spell-using spellcasters know, but also dread necromancer might work as well as either bard (???). So, any suggestions about the feat left and the last two leves left? Or perhaps writting off the entire class and start from scratch how?.

Easy: Necropolitan and skill focus (Craft [Puppet]) :P.

And not stab them?"

Amazing.

Well, the elf is certainly a Drizzt parody, but since he's no ranger, I think an elf swashbuckler 3/fighter 2/Dervish 10/Tempest 5 follows it smoothly.

The tauren's just a very hulking monk, though :D.

Holy crap that's an awesome comic; thanks so much for posting that! Seriously, I'm going to have to play a Richard-inspired character sometime. I'm sure it'll be as fun as the Quarren Force Adept I used to play who kept a list of his favorite intelligent species to eat...

I don't know of any spells that allow you to take control of someone's skeleton while they're still wearing it...at least not in D&D. (Now Exalted, that's another story.) Would make a nice custom Necro spell though. Isn't there an Invocation that gives you "eldritch claws"? That might fit for the Melee bit.

Factoring in the singing... Necropolitan Illumian Bard 2/Warlock 6/Eldritch Theurge 2/Sublime Chord 2/Eldritch Theurge +8
- use the improved krau sigil to qualify for both ET and SC
- take the supressed sigil feat and explain it as that green tattoo on his face
- finish with 9th level spells and a dark invocation
- could probably be slightly more efficient if you're willing to let Uncanny Trickster give you an effective 12 levels of ET

For something non-optimal, I think Dragon Devotee is an interesting option before heading into ET. Just sub out that Con boost for Wis or something and call it a day.

couldn't u just buy the perform sing skill in another way avoiding bard? (imo apart from the singing and chaotic/funny nature bard isn't suited for Dick ) btw the tatoo idea is awesome
and i was wondering if u could "drain monk abilities" in some strange way also in d&d...
maybe we could adapt smth like vop into vote of nonsense-humoristic-destruction (u have to kill everything and u have to be creative and very very comic :D) for some vop-like bonuses....that could maybe represent the "i have drained a monk once..it tasted like chocolate"-flavor ......could be done?

He seems a lot like a ranger to me. Animal companion, bow use, two-weapon-fighting...

Unfortunately, the fact that Richard's an undead warlock leaves the whole HFW thing out of the picture. I suppose it's safe to assume that he's butchering them with the lesser (I think) fire and cold blast invocations.

However, I definitely am thinking Eldritch Disciple, as Richard obviously has more power than his eldritch blast would give him. He's turned himself into an effective flaming torpedo, opened up a portal through time, and turned a sand dragon into glass. I'm almost thinking a high-level caster with metamagic capability, or even an epic
primary spellcaster stuff 20/warlock X. Richard basically is able to do what he wants, and his recent scrape with the battlemages and this embarassment with the giant is completely inconsistent with what the warlock's been able to do in the past.

I tip my hat off to you for this, though, as soon as I read the thread title I knew what was coming and actually lol'd

Soul eater?

At it was pointed out by Necroramo, since being necropolitan takes away the change of Hellfire Warlock, I think five levels in Soul Eater might work.

But then again, Surreal's build calls my attention.

STOP

he is a warlock based on world of warcraft, NOT DnD.

I suggest you go check out the awesome warlock class made for the WoW D20 setting. It's very solid and has a lot of nice spells.

If not that, then simply make him be a wizard/malconvoker, because that's basically what warlocks are. They also drain souls, and can taste them.

yeah ;)

well..kinda...in wow Locks don't use ice spells and they rely a lot on their pet while richard considered elttil hctib more like a familiar i think...they for sure have wow ispiration but in a lot of strips they talk like they were in a D 'n D world...oh and btw if that would be wow mechanic Richard should be called mage (ice+fire) and not lock.....

Great webcomic, been following it for a couple of months now.

This is something we had cooked up for a gestalt game that never got off the ground. Warlock 20 // Dread Necromancer 8 / Sand Shaper 1 / Tainted Scholar 1 / Ur-Priest 2 / True Necromancer 8 (with TN giving 14 / 14 casting advancement, it's kinda lame otherwise).

It doesn't really matter if you throw a bone to the TN, between tainted casting and consumptive field cheese he's power incarnate.

Basic consumptive field cheese = 10 minutes out of every hour readying an eldritch blast and yelling "pull!" to your bag of tricks carrying Imp familiar.

Oh yeah, the rest of the group thought that we might as well make him an Illumian with the Strength Sigil and Festering Anger cheese as well.
