Hi guys,
we are going to start a new good campaign and i would like to play a pure healer with good support and if possible some cool survival abbilities
I can pick any class/race from the complete books (like arcane, divine, etc) phb1&2. Any ideas for a build and maybe some strong items?
thanks

If you really want to do nothing but heal, it's tough to beat the Healer class.  Yes, Clerics are more powerful, but healing is ALL the Healer does.  I'd ask your DM if you can change it to something akin to Dread Necromancer and Beguiler as far as being a spontaneous caster that automatically knows every spell on its list, since it is so focused.  You eventually get a Unicorn companion, which is a nice feature.

However, any healing-focused character can benefit from the Draconic Aura feat (Dragon Magic) selecting Vigor (PHB2).  This lets you heal everyone in the party up to 1/2 health with no resources expended (including actions except for the swift action at the start of each day).  Alternatively, there's the Touch of Healing feat in Complete Champion that takes actions to use, but it also gives a caster level bonus on healing spells.  If your DM misreads the Draconic Aura feat so that you can't select Vigor, a 1-level dip in Dragon Shaman can nab it and a couple of other auras as well (Senses is a good one).

Usually, though, I'd reccommend a Cleric.  You can heal when you need to, but you aren't waiting around for people to take damage so you have something to do.  They can also use DMM Persist with Mass Lesser Vigor for unlimited healing throughout the day.

There are lots of ways to heal.  Brads, Rangers, Druids, and paladins can all cast Cure spells (and thus use wands), and those are just the Core options.  Summoning Unicorns can provide healing (something Druids can do).  Outside of Core, you have even more.  Binders can do it once they can bind Buer, Crusaders can do it surprisingly well in the middle of combat, Dragon Shamans have the Vigor Aura and their version of Lay on Hands (which can heal more than just hp)  Paladins have their own Lay on Hands.

As for healing focused PrC's, there are the Combat Medic and Radiant Servant of Pelor that immediately come to mind.

Then there are the items.  The Healing Belt (Magic Item Compendium) is an excellent option available pretty early on.  Wands of healing spells are usually good investments, provided someone can use them.

Also, with the advent of Complete Scoundrel, anyone with 5 ranks in Heal and a couple of skill points to spare can do some nonmagical healing in emergencies.

That said, Healing isn't a party role.  It's important to have some in the party, but having it as the focus isn't generally a good idea.  See here for more information on this.

Spell Compendium and Complete Adventurer are the two places to find it.
