Looking to Improve this Apostle of Peace build

9th level Divine and Arcane spells at lvl. 20

I take Vow of Poverty at lvl. 1 so that I can free up a lot of feats.

If you want for example a summoner that has it's exalted minions capture and imprision evildoers, you'd end up with a totally different build compared then you'd get when building a diplomancer that talk's it's opponents into "why can't we all just be friends", while their weapons shatter harmlessly against your skin.

Just as an idea, for the diplomancer build you could go bard 7, apostle of peace 2, Sublime chord 2, mystic theurge 8, binder 1/warlock 1/marshall1 (1 of those last 3, these levels not taken necesarily in this order)

Feats like negotiator, skill focus (diplomacy), nimbus of light, you already have vow of peace... 5 ranks in the 3 skills that give you a diplomacy synergy bonus, and you already have a steady +9 bonus on diplomacy checks, +15 with warlock, +17 vs good creatures... the DC to make hostile neutral or friendly is easy in range on midlevel, on high level you auto-succeed to make 'em helpfull.

This would give full spells from the AoP, and full casting from the sublime chord. Switch some levels for more of those last 3 mentioned to gain huge bonusses on diplomacy on the cost of spellcasting (not really worth it from optimization point of view/overall power, but nice for an uberbonus on diplomacy)

Further, I think you can use AoP for most of the dirty tricks that can be used with Ur-priest, it's only hella less populair because of the vow of peace/poverty/nonviolence, that makes it really difficult playable in most campaigns. But a binder/anima mage/wizard/AoP tripple threat with 9th level arcane & 9 level divine spells, and to 2 vestiges bound up to level 5. Also nice.

Dec 14, 2009 20:59:48 I actually have tinkered with using Apostle with Mytic Theurge in the past myself. Love the idea of having 9th level spells in both arcane and divine casting. I came up with:

Transmuter 5/Divine Oracle 2/Apostle of Peace 2/Mystic Theurge 8/Loremaster 3

I picked transmuter just because I like the idea of using arcane casting for buffs and divine spells for healing (came up with the idea as the "ultimate support caster"). You end with CL 18th for arcane and 19 for divine... which means 9th level spells for both sides of the casting. I also took advantage of Vow of Poverty's bonus feats, but that's probably the biggest mechanical reason for it to be a prerequisite.

Indeed. 30+ dex AC at 20th lvl. in cloth is insane. Damage reduction, energy resistance and others make it rather potent. and all those bonus feats really make it worth it. still trying to work out the 6 ranks in Diplomacy though.

I recently caught that issue on my build, too. I charted the progression out as such:

I took Divine Oracle levels for prescient sense, and Loremaster for bumping my saves. I handled diplomacy as a cross-class skill until I qualified for Apostle. Not as streamlined, but it works nonetheless.
