Now wierd as this is, I want to try and turn this disadvantage into an advantage. Are their any things you can think of to optimize the loss of a hand? Anything from BoVD? A way to get a new hand thats better, maybe some mechanical hand, feats that go along with it. Anything really! And since I know you are all going to be curious, it's a level 3 human fighter, Shield specilization, Improved shield bash, Shield wall and Agile Shield fighter. Obviously you can see where I was going with the character. |

Just put the shieldof the arm without a hand and pay some nice NPC to invent a device to strap the shield onto your arm..... ta-da Although if your stuck on it grafts from LM are an option if you are in a party that wont mind undead parts on you... |
| #4ebirisOct 16, 2008 10:16:50 | Setting specific, but the City of Splendours - Waterdeep book has the Hand of Tyr feat usable either by forfeiting the use of your right hand or having it chopped off. Gives +1 to attack, damage, and will. |
| #5pithicaOct 16, 2008 15:47:46 | There are grafts of every type imaginable that can replace the hand, as already mentioned. Fiend Folio has several in the back, as does Lords of Madness, Libris Mortis, Magic of Eberron, PGtEberron, and Dragon Magic. That'd be where I'd start. |

| #7rommel013Oct 16, 2008 16:57:41 | The stump knife from Arms and Equipment (assuming you are doing 3.X) is awesome. Also the Arm of Tyr from Defenders of the Faith (again, assuming you are doing 3.X) is a great option that might require you to lose the rest of your arm, but grants you Bonus to STR and DEX and a Deflection Bonus to AC. When my character lost his hand to a trap, the DM let me build a grappling hook launcher into the stump. It was a completely homebrewed option, but something along those lines might be worth a shot. Stealing from Eberron (again, 3.X) you could try to get crossbow arm adaptation (forget which book it's in, possibly Forge of War) or some variation there of, assuming you had the STR score for it, you could try to get an Auto-Loading (Heroes of Battle) Light Bombard (Stormwrack) grafted or attatched to the limb. |

If you use this, be sure to talk to your DM about how the Arm of Tyr interacts with strength buffs. I don't know that it's entirely RAW, but I've seen a character unable to take full advantage of his Barbarian's Rage because the Arm 'couldn't gain the STR bonus because it's an item, not the character'. |
