| #1ryptaMay 20, 2009 18:11:03 | Hey guys, I've been thinking about making a bounty hunter/assassin flavored build that specializes in hunting magic users. Starting with arcane hunter Ranger seemed like an obvious choice, and I'd really like to get occult slayer in there. Imaskari Vengeance Taker looked interesting, but I was hoping to be more of a martial build, so the spellcasting progression (even though its only half) seems like a waste. Any suggestions? Any WoTC material is okay, flaws and traits also. EDIT: 32 point buy |

If you get into a fight with one the pierce magical conceal, and the one that ignores magical armor (I think) is good. So max hide/move silent (get as much to increase it as possible), and try to get a reduction on hide after attacks. Try to find a way around the ways to see you even when hidden (detect life/magic I believe will do this) Eventually a optimized spellcaster will probly not take sneak attacks, so try to get a wepon enchant that damages con, or something equally heinous. |

| #6agahiiMay 20, 2009 18:42:06 | Also the iron heart surge manuver (ToB) is great if you can get it. |
| #7saefalMay 20, 2009 18:46:02 | Complete Arcane offers a variety of Mage Slayer feats some of which are almost essential to the Mage killing build. I think there are four of them and I recommend all of them. One actually allows you to ignore all magical concealment or effects that provide a miss chance, another allows you to do a single attack that ignores all magical bonuses to armor class. The core feat prevents defesive casting so I like a build that allows some reach. I would make a chainfighter. |

| #9danduMay 20, 2009 19:03:07 | He was hoping for a more martial build. |

Yea, I was definitely looking at warblade especially since I could take improved initiative as the bonus feat which I would need for occult slayer. Also the iron heart surge manuver (ToB) is great if you can get it. Yea that would definitely help. I see three of them: Mage Slayer, Pierce Magical Concealment, Pierce Magical Protection. |
| #11SwordDiscipleMay 20, 2009 19:12:41 | There's a build in my signature.. It's not fully optimal but it's made a few Wizards run away. You might be able to get some ideas from that? I'll make it easier Drow Anti-Mage Spell Resistance Mettle Evasion Reflect spells back on caster Etc.. This Guy can suprise a few Wizards too.. |
| #12pyro_azerMay 20, 2009 20:45:13 | Wowi get tosuggestoneofmyfavoritePrCs: Use Occult Slayer |
| #13mister_crowleyMay 20, 2009 21:39:44 | Wowi get tosuggestoneofmyfavoritePrCs: +1. Go Barbarian 1/Ranger 4/ Occult Slayer 5/ xxx 10 Get Lion Totem Pounce and Whirling Frenzy alt class feautres from Barb, take Arcane Hunter alt class from Ranger as well as martial variant that replaces spellcasting with bonus feats ![]() |
| #14jameswilliamogleMay 20, 2009 21:54:09 | Barbinder. |
| #15WyvernhandMay 20, 2009 22:18:07 | Dwarven Ranger1/Fighter2/Barbarian2/Deepwarden2/EWM1/OccultSlayer5 is a solid start. Use either an Urgrosh to Flurry with (2 handed style, not TWF) or a Waraxe to get 2x str bonus. Resistances are really high, and build feeds off only Str and Con. Alternatively, play a cleric! lol |
