Apr 03, 2008 22:44:28 I'm looking for magical beast forms for my familiar that will allow me to share alter self to allow it to use items. Improved familiar is not an option.

Celestial Monkey it is then. Post your build, and I will see if I can work in Exalted or Improved Familiar. Also, with Elder Evils+Dark Chaos shenanigans, no build ever has to worry about not having feats!

Apr 03, 2008 23:58:25 You can't turn into things with templates with Alter Self. Celestial is a template. This is an area that is unfortunately extremely lacking in my Alter Self guide. Sorry about that. :P An aranea or cloaked ape would work, if your familiar is small sized.

Hey you posted the same combo in my thread as well but I cant seem to find a copy of elder evils could you maybe give me the jest of it like bonus feats or is it some weird loop hole or what???

Normally, it is just a bunch of bonus Vile feats. Embrace the Dark Chaos changes these to Abyssal Heirator feats. Shun the Dark Chaos turns them into feats of your choice.

You gain the Vile feats by devoting yourself to an Elder Evil. By shifting alignments, you can also declare that you are no longer devoted to them (as you can go from CE to CN via casting Embrace/Shun repeatedly). You then redeclare your devotion, and gets new Vile feats. Rinse, repeat. Infinite feat loop. It is a mini Pun-Pun, as you can also achieve Infinite spells/day via Extra Spell Slot+Earth Spell+Heighten Spell. The second most powerful character in the game doesn't even need to pull a Candle or Pazuzu loop to be broken (those just make it faster).

If you can get it up to Medium sized, Seawolf from Stormwrack is another option.

Would asking it to drink a potion of enlarge animal allow me to do that?

edit: probably not as an animal is not a magical beast :-\

edit2: none of the familiars in the SRD seem to be small either. Most are tiny, a few diminutive.

You can cast Enlarge Person on your familiar via Share Spells, and it will work.
