Making a vampire ranger (trying to optimize for ranged and melee)

The real reason I am posting this, is to merely ask where I can find a plethora of magical longbows or composite bows or whatever to choose from. Really I am looking in particular for one my DM told me about. I don't know the name of it, i only know this bow was used by some wierd monster that looks like the predator (i think i cant be too sure, my dm is rather evil).

From what I know of this bow, it fires normal arrows but when these arrows are fired, apparently the arrows grow to the size of trees (wierd huh i dunno if he's lying) does anyone know of this bow, or of this wierd monster?

I'm going to tentatively optimize this character as best as I can but not go overboard since my last optimization broke my GM's brain.

(wartroll/black half dragon anyone?? with a lockdown fighter build)

He will be generally good in melee with a big sword and I shall choose a few feats to give him a bit of an edge, but I want his ranged capability to shine.

I'm just in preliminary research stages no idea what level I will be so i'm not going too far into it, just want to see what options in bows I have to choose from.

Thanks muchly.

While I've never heard of such a weapon in any specific form, this sounds suspiciously like someone took a giant pencil sharpener to a forest, then cast Shrink Item over and over again (an eternal wand is probably the way to go here - it's cheap, and you can get a good-sized tree with the 10 cubic feet at minimal CL), finding some method of storing the 1/16th ratio trees-turned-arrows in stasis not dependent upon the spell's duration (for instance, a quiver full of quintessence would do it).

Unless he's exploiting Sizing in some weird manner, this would get you what you're looking for. Restocking the quiver would take quite some time, though all the components last more or less forever.

IIRC

It's a monster (a fey) of MM IV or MM V,
Its name is "Hunter " something.

The ability to enlarge the bow's arrows depend by the creature not by the bow.
And it works only under the moonlight.

That would be the Master of the Hunt and his moonhunter ability.    The creature in question appears in the "Wild Hunt" entry in the Monster Manual V.

Looking at the picture, I guess he could be described as looking a bit like the predators.  And come to think of it, the predators do behave a lot like bizarre fey come to the human world to entertain themselves by toying with mortals; they have the same habit of playing their games by ironclad rules known only to themselves.
