| #1tenacious_mcgeeApr 28, 2009 4:50:45 | Alright so here's my issue: I'm going to be in a 3.5 game soon with a total of 8 player characters (and apparently my DM is going to have 4 NPC characters in this party as well, so a total of 12 characters). I am the only cleric, as well as the closest thing to a melee combatant (there might be one other fighter). Anyway, my question is would multiclassing be a bad idea in this scenario? Originally I was wanting to take a two-level dip in fighter (for feats and Greatsword proficiency, of course), but with so many people in the group I'm worried that losing even one level of spell-casting progression would be a bad idea. Granted, there are two druids and a bard who can do some back-up healing, but both of the druid players are first-time players and the bard is a NPC character. In other words, I'm pretty much the "Walking Band-Aid Box" of the group. I'll be playing a human cleric of Kord. Wielding a greatsword is important to me (for roleplaying reasons moreso than game mechanics), and I have had my eye on the following feats: Power Attack Cleave Great Cleave Quickened Spell Reach Spell Sacred Boost If I do Cleric 20, then I'll have to wait until level 15 before I have all of those feats (Martial Weapon Proficiency: Greatsword included). If I take Cleric 19 Fighter 1 I only have to wait until 9th level, and if I take Cleric 18 Fighter 2 I only have to wait until 6th level to have all of them. But once again, I'm worried about my spell progression. So, what's my best course of action? |

| #3kell_kheraptisApr 28, 2009 5:33:27 | try this: There is also a Dragon mag variant that still gets all the usual goodies, plus several combat feats called the Avenger I believe...might free up some of those slots for more metamagic (like DMM). EDIT : It's called the Crusader, from issue 311. It gets Turning against it's deity's foes' followers, smite, bonus feats, and one Martial Weapon Proficiency. Spiffy ![]() |
