ok so I wanted to make a centralized villian that as single person is enough to take on a group of 10 optimized characters so I gave him some extreme base stats at first level and I want him to end up with 20 class levels.

so with an 18 in every stat and the Paladin of Tyranny variant as a base where should I go with this. He is a Human and can have up to his limit in magic items for all I care he should be broken because my players are broken.

any suggestions especially on feats, I will use basically any feat from any 3.5 book as well as magic items.

This is one evil evil man so all things go.

What exactly is "a group of 10 optimized characters"? Are we talking about 10 druids with the Natural Spell feat? 10 DMM Clerics? 10 Chain-Trippers?

If you help firts with a little more information, I'm sure the boards will help you a lot more with some nasty builds.

10 properly optimized characters? If you are not going into infinite loops I wonder how you can possibly win. Its like comparing a Snickers with 10 Snickers. Who is more Snickers? It doesn't help adding a little peanuts in there, you have to bring some real chocolate to the board (aka Lindt).

You can always do a PunPun, but he isn't fun no matter how optimized people are. Maybe something like the twice betrayer of Shar would work (though an optimized player may well be one...)?

alright the optimized part is more of a 2 guys who have been playing since the beginning of 3.5 and have a majority of the books assisted with character creation.
I will give some details about each one
A bugbear rogue whos greatest claim to fame is his ring of invisibility.
A Centaur Monster of Legend(no current class levels but casts as cleric due to the template.)
A tiefling Necromancer variant
A Drow Evoker Variant
A Human Druid Master of Many Forms
A tiefling Rogue/Dread Pirate
A Half-Black Dragon Fighter that will be taking levels in Occult Slayer
A Half-Fiend (Human) Rogue
A Hobgoblin Ranger Fighter Rogue

Not all of them are hardcore optimized but they are all good at what they do.

I don't need to take them all on in some epic struggle I can do it one on one or in a sneaky way.

Make sure to take Leadership. That'll help with any weaknesses in the main build.

It seems fairly clear to me that you need a character that is optimized at each individual level, as compared to optimized at just high end or low. That limits some options.

You should go for a multi-threat build, I think (ie builds with multiple of the following: 9th level psionic powers, 9th level divine spells, 9th level arcane spells, +16 BAB, lots of skill points and trapfinding <-this last one's not important for you). There's a couple of ways to do this.

Classes to look at:
Ur-Priest (9th level cleric spells in 9 levels; relatively easy prereqs)
Nar Demonbinder (8th level arcane spells; limited list; relatively easy prereqs)
Sublime Chord (9th level wiz/sorc spells; tough skill prereqs)
Fochlucan Lyracist (full BAB; tough prereqs)
Blighter (9th level divine spells in 9 levels; very easy prereqs; crappy list - fairly weak)

There's been a ton of builds involving each; I suggest looking in "Some Handy Links for Optimization Work" stickied on the top of this forum, and in the second post you'll find links to awesome handbooks on each one (except the Blighter).

Another option:
You've got 4 casters, and 3 melee types. With this, you could do an anti-caster build that will kick butt and take names (and won't be good at taking names).

There was a Warblade / Jade Phoenix Mage build that was put to the test against a lot of optimized characters (the BBEG had a pair of Swordsages, if I remember right, that threw enemies through walls of fire and such). Anybody remember the link???

Anyways, I'm biased to Binders, so I'm inclined to suggest one. And, since you want optimized, we might as well use LA Buyoff rules and Bloodlines... I'll put up a build later.

With an 18 in every stat here is my suggestions:
Human Paladin of Tyranny4/Fighter2/Black Guard 3/Bone Knight1/Ur Priest1/Bone Knight9

You get Cha to saves x2, 9th level cleric spells, all of the bone knight armor and skeletal steed goodies, Two auras that stack for a total of -4 to saves, +16 BAB, Rebuke undead qualifies you for Divine MIght (Cha to Damage), Divine Shield (Cha to AC), Divine Metamagic (Persist things like Divine Power, Righteous Might, etc).

Items you'll want: Pump your Wis and Cha through the roof, Slippers of battledancing will get you Cha to Damage, a belt of magnificence will give you +6 to all stats for 200,000gp, items to increase AC, damage output, saves, and give you more actions (belt of battle + 9th level spellcasting = two 9th level spells per round for silly fun).

Karsite (LA Bought Off)
Binder 15 / Knight of Sacred Seal 5

EBL of 20
BAB of +16/+11/+6/+1
SR of 30
DR 10/magic
Full Martial Proficiency
Full Armor Proficiency
lots of small abilities

Strategies:
Focus on using Karsus's Dispelling Touch, Zagan's Aversion and grappling, and Savnok's Full Plate (w/ Fortification, to mess up the rogues). For the last vestige, I'd go with what is known to be good (I like Haures for Mind Blank, but it has other benefits as well). Pick up the Shape Soulmeld and Open Chakra feats for evasion (vs. AoEs).

Regardless, you need Leadership... You need more actions per round to compete with your party.

The party is not the most optimized out there; neither is this build.

paladin slaughter 2/barb 1/fighter 2/frenzied berserker 10/ hexblade 3/blackgaurd 2

Cha to saves a ton of times, full BAB, killer in melee, and the ability to cast a few minor spells/powers.

(if you care about alignment for barbarians you have to do slaughter, if not do put tyranny back in.)

Best part is that you don't have to say "he is a frenzied berserker" which to an optimized party means "throw a grease spell at him" so the auto kill features that are built into the class.

Extra rage is nice if you want to rage more than once a day (i dont know, if he is a villian probably not?)

Regardless of whatever else you do, two levels in blackgaurd is basically mandatory. Cha to saves twice is just too good.

Id say go with a necromancer of some sort (K's necromancy handbook)(dread necromancer handbook) for dealing with that many PCs

The benefits are that it dosent matter how tough he is (which he will be but it dosent matter) because he will have super mega undead to fight the party for him, while he cherry picks with avasculates or something even worse. A good challange of endurance for the party, and they will hate the bbeg so much they will remember killing him for years to come.

Doesn't Ur-Priest require that you do cannot have the ability to cast any divine magic upon entry

You can, but you have to give it up.

Deja vu... I reply to these "help I'm a DM and my players optimize hard, but I want to beat them at their own game with 1 PC" increasingly.

The bone knight build is the best so far because of the DMM (and the tasty immunities). If you need even more firepower (and you don't allow leadership stupidity) try my CoDzilla build in the link in my sig. Its highly theoretical but it was designed carefully to do exactly what you want (except he's CN rather than LE): take one a highly optimized party.

Another option is to replace bone knight with Master of Shrouds and laugh as you use items/spells to meld into the ground and leave the party with a bunch of incorporeal undead to deal with. Each time you kill a PC, one more mob in your gang to beat up the rest (and you'd still have 9th level spells and DMM is even more of an option as you get more turn attempts).

Dread Necromancer 16/Warblade 4, with Practiced Caster, Corpsecrafter, Daunting Presence, Necromantic Presence, Deadly Chill, Destructive Retribution, Leadership, Undead Leadership, and Tomb-Tainted Soul. Your BBEG's main weakness - a huge one, in fact - is the D&D Action Economy is 10 - 1 against him. Leadership, Undead Leadership, and the various undead commanding/creating abilities of Dread Necro alleviate that. Warblade 4 at every 5th level lets you pick and choose some of the stronger maneuvers to amp up your own damage output while the skellies at your command swarm the party.

I guess this'll work best: Bariaur PoT 7/Bone Knight 10/Divine Oracle 2/Pious Templar 1.
Feats: Skill Focus (Knowledge [Religion]), True Believer, Weapon Focus, Extend Spell, Persistent Spell, DMM: Persistent Spell, Leadership [any full-spellcaster cohort].
Spells: Persist both Favor of The Martyr and Lionheart.
Items of note: ring of Freedom of Movement, Daazix's Vest, Nightsticks.

I guess this guy and his army can give your players a good fight.

I'm definitely agreeing that your biggest problem is that they have you out actioned 10-1. And I certainly agree that necromancer, leadership, or both is a good way to get you out of this hole. One thing that I've been toying around with recently is a necromancer super specialist wizard (from PHB2, drop 3 schools and 1 spell per day for 3 spells per day in your specialist school- comes out to 6 spells/level, 3 of which are in 1 school). Build up your army of undead, but most of your preps per day go into rays that suck ability scores and levels. Things like Ray of Feebleness, Ray of stupidity, Enervate, Touch of Idiocy, Mind Poison (DC works of your casting stat and CL, as opposed to just casting stat +spell level, very nice).

So, necromancer whos undead posse ties up the party. What I suggest next might sound weird, but I think it might work, if you don't want to be just straight caster. Drop a level into barbarian, and hit rage mage. only half casting, but at the end it lets you use Tenser's Transformation and still cast normally (only once per day, but how many times per day do you meet the BBEG?). So, undead attack, Tenser's Trans, run around doing 2 things- rod of Quickening (or just regular quickening) debuffs on the martial types so your pets can eat them, while you hack up the wizards, martial beast that you are.

Down side- this has nothing to do with your paladin of tyranny. Using that, i agree with Blackguard 2 for your saves. After that, I still say make undead friends, and then I'd say hit up Dread Witch. Fear the un-fearable, and those that are fearable are just that much easier to fear. It's certainly good crowd control- if you can panic them then you're eating into that action deficit.

Last little trick (yes, its again with Undead). If you can, use blackfire- hell, if you can't make a magic item that can and give it to him, you're the DM and he's the BBEG. It's a level 8 sorc/wiz spell; technically, its a ranged touch attack to set the person on fire. After that, every time they fail a fort save they're nauseated and take 1d4 Con. And if you're standing next to someone on blackfire, reflex save or you're on blackfire.
So, how this comes into play- undead can be neither nauseated nor take con damage. So, set them on fire, then send them into the midst of the party. It lasts for round/CL, and for an undead it's pretty much an uber buff. hell, make a **** ton of weak undead, with one or two baddies. Cast blackfire on the baddie, have it spread to all the weak ones. Now, make the party wade through this flaming army of trash- every time one gets close, Reflex save. Unless they have a dispelling screen or something prepared, they won't be able to put out all of it before they're surrounded. Once they're taking con damage and throwing up (even if they make the fort save on this spell they are sickened instead of nauseated, and it only goes away if you make the save 3 times in a row), send in the heavyweights and start smashing.

If you go with the master of shrouds build I posted, the 10-1 attack rate is mitigated. When you use spells/items/etc to effectively sit inside the ground, the party can't attack you. All you have to do then is keep summoning undead, killing things with your incorporeal undead, and eventually you win.

I used a similar build to solo the entire Horde in Red Hand of Doom (including the aspect of Tiamat). The largest problem is that you need to figure out a way of tossing out cannon fodder to feed to your shadows/wraiths in order to increase the number of undead on the playing field.

\Your BBEG's main weakness - a huge one, in fact - is the D&D Action Economy is 10 - 1 against him.

Hey, along these lines, a Planard Shephard build can get exactly 10 round : 1 compression :D. Thus getting actions at a 1 : 1 BBEG : Players (with a single character).

You definitely should go with an Ur-Priest. You might take my character from here and add 8 more levels onto it, but he could probably beat your party of PCs as-is at level 12. ;)

I rolled poorly, or otherwise his Initiative should be +18, and it could be +22 if you use Heroics to add Improved Initiative. He has the Mother Cyst feat, and has permanently enslaved a war troll, which he normally possesses via Magic Jar (the stats below are for him fully buffed while inside the war troll).

As-is, he needs an Incantatrix "buddy" who has Extend and Persistent Spell to help him buff. This guy can be enslaved via Mother Cyst, also. He doesn't even have to help in the fight, just for buffing. I took one level of a homebrewed PrC, but it could easily be replaced, which would allow you to dump several otherwise useless feats and take Divine Metamagic: Persistent Spell so he doesn't need the Incantatrix (there is one in the party I'm playing him in). With Divine Metamagic + Anima Mage, he has lots of free metamagic uses per day. Use them for buffing and throwing out Chained Greater Dispel Magics (or other debuffs).

He has devoted himself to an elder evil for bonus vile feats every 5 levels. The stats below include a Recitation which isn't listed in his prepared spells (it was cast by another party member, but he could cast it himself).

His fully buffed stats (at level 12) are as follows:
Show

HP 232/162 (avg)
DR 5/ad, 9/good
Speed 70 (and Air Walk)
AC 49, Touch 18, Flat-footed 46

-Contingency (CL21)(cast via Limited Wish) [triggered to go off when Heartening shield is activated (immediate action)], casts Plane Shift (Astral Plane)

2: Augury, Death Knell, Necrotic Cyst, Guidance of the Avatar, [Shield Other (even) or Lesser Restoration (odd)], (alternatives: Detect Law/Evil, Necrotic Scrying, Undetectable Alignment, Living Undeath, Divine Insight, Expeditious Retreat)

4: Dimensional Anchor, Freedom of Movement, Death Ward, Air Walk, (alternatives: Divination, Delay Death)
5: Plane Shift, True Seeing, Extended DMM: Persistent [Consumptive Field (odd) or Divine Power (even)], Extended Greater Magic Weapon, (alternative: Commune)
6: Extended DMM: Persistent [Righteous Might (even) or Righteous Wrath of the Faithful (odd)], Greater Dispel Magic, Heal, (alternative: Find the Path)
7: Extended Heroes Feast, Extended Superior Resistance, (alternatives: Dictum, Blasphemy, Necrotic Tumor)

Buffing routine:

I'm assuming Consumptive Field caps at +10 CL, +20 Str, and +10d8 temp. hit points. Only the CL cap is explicitly stated. I also assume it can't bootstrap off itself with multiple castings, but that you can boost your "starting caster level" via other means.

On odd days
-Death Knell on something (CL 13)
-He uses Dark Speech for another +1 CL while casting Consumptive Field. This adds +7 CL, 7d8 temporary hit points, and +14 Str. His total CL is now 20.
-Lesser Restoration or bind Naberius to get rid of the Cha damage from Dark Speech. Use Expel Vestige to rebind Balam, if he bound Naberius.
-Persistent Righteous Might (Extended)
-Magic Vestment (Extended via Lesser Rod) on armor
-Greater Magic Weapon on his guisarme (Extended)
-Superior Resistance on himself (Extended)
-Heroes Feast (Extended)
-Shield Other (on familiar)(Extended via MM Rod)
-CL 19 for the next two days.

On even days:
-Death Knell on something (CL 20)
-Magic Vestment (Extended via Lesser MM Rod) on shield (lasts 2 days)
-Persistent Righteous Wrath of the Faithful (extended)
-Superior Resistance on someone else (extended)
-Persistent Divine Power (extended)
-Greater Magic Weapon on someone else's weapon (extended)
-Heroes Feast (Extended)
-Shield Other (on another ally)(extended via rod)

-Cast all the other shorter duration buffs, and activate Evil's Blessing (Cha to saves) and the 1xday ability of Tenebrous (immediate teleport 40 feet once per round for 8 rounds) right before the fight.

Bound Vestiges (Binding check is 1d20+16 vs the vestige DC):
Balam Bind DC 25, Sign: hollow, guttural voice, Influence: causes you to distrust clerics and curse and spit if you enter a(n) (un)holy place, Granted Abilities: reroll 1/5 attack, save, skill; 2d6 cold gaze (will negates); Prescience (+1/4lvls insight to Ref, AC, and Initiative); Weapon Finesse

Tenebrous (dead divine part of Orcus)(DC21, always in shadow; can't act first in combat): Deeper Darkness (centered on him, can change radius at will in increments of 10'), See in Darkness (as devil), Touch of the Void (+1d8 cold damage to melee attacks), Rebuke Undead 1/5 rnds (as EBL), Vessel of Emptiness 1xday (as Flicker shadow mystery, similiar to Greater Blink: can teleport 5'/2EBLs as an immediate action each round for the 1 rnd/EBL duration)

Progression:

For this, I'd retool him as Binder1/Sorc1/Anima Mage 10/Ur-Priest 2/Contemplative 1/Heirophant 5, with the first three levels of Anima Mage adding to Sorcerer, and the rest adding to Ur-Priest. This is taking a very liberal approach to the adaptation section for Anima Mage. He also uses pretty stinky cheese to get into Anima Mage that fast (Precocious Apprentice + retrain a feat to Improved Binding at 2nd level).

If you take only Spell Power from Heirophant, his caster level will be obscene at 20th level after Consumptive Field (at least 35 without trying hard). With the Legacy Item which prevents him from being flat-footed, combined with the Anima Mage's 10th level ability, he could cast a CL 33 Dictum or Word of Chaos as an immediate action even while flat-footed. And that's just his opener. ;)

If you absolutely have too make a "pure" melee build, go with Frenzied berserker and kill one character at a time. Anyway, I suggest listening to the others ;)

No. No good.

You need Fighter 8 for Greater Weapon Focus and Fighter 12 for Greater Weapon Specialization. Besides, a Fighter 6Pot 4/BG10 is a pretty weak option against your party.

If you are absolutely dead set on using a blackguard, check out this build: http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=346.msg6531#msg6531

You can start out as a palladin 11, and convert 10 levels directly to blackguard, leaving you as an ex-palladin 1/blackguard 10 at level 11. This is a decent starting place for a 20th level build. The build in the link I posted uses a few house rules, but it should still be decent without them, and hell it is probably possible to do everything I was doing without the house rules, if you dig around in enough books. He could also certainly be improved, as I didn't have access to alot of books when I made him (alot of good stuff hadn't even been printed yet).

If you go with a simple beatstick fighter/BG against an optimized party of 10 which includes spellcasters who know what they're doing, he'll be lucky to last 1 round. Even the build linked in this post would need to be tweaked to actually survive more than a round against even a decently optimized party. One thing I would absolutely add to him now is a Wand of Wraithstrike in a wand chamber on his weapon. I'd also exchange that fighter level for barbarian, allowing him to pounce on a charge. That would make him a lot more serious threat. You can make up for the lost feat by buying Iron Will via the Otyugh Hole. He might drop a couple of PCs before dying horribly in round 2, if you do those things ;)

So I liked the thing you guys had come up with about the Undead so I decided to include some undead followers in mix and im gonna level his spellcaster friend so we have a the Bg and a Wizard with an undead horde in tow. This allows for the Bg to run around knocking the hell out of the pc's while they are too busy fighting off the undead.

While the Wizard hits some of the higher power people with debuffs and the such.
