Mark the Mad Monk

This character focus on three major points: Reach / Trip / Unarmed Damage.

He is also able to play many party roles: Healer / Face / Stealth / Tank / Encyclopedia.

Albeit that fact, his optimization is far from complete. So long a few sacrilegious choices have been made in order to fulfill its array of abilities. Those sacrifices were committed willingly for the greater good.

Now Mark the Mad Monk requires your help to finish his career plan. He is still missing 5 levels. Should he apply himself on enhancing martial prowess or on furthering his grasp of the magical arts??

Please give your input on how he can be a better character (feats, classes, tactics, domains, tips).

Where should Mark the Mad Monk go from now onwards??

I am considering a few more arcane caster levels (Combat Wizard), so he can get 4 wraithstrike uses plus another feat. Or maybe just go all the way with Tome of Battle. What do you think?

I eagerly await your advice.

I advise against the Dark template as your first level. It greatly reduces your skill-point pool ;)

I don't think you can switch your fighting style after the first level of Monk is taken.

You'll want to check out the "Tomb-Tainted Soul" feat instead of becoming a Necropolitan for one small trick.

Thanks for the tips, NiteCyper.

About changing fighting styles, I did not know it was possible as well......until I decided to read all the text in the Variant Monk section in UA.

Tomb-Tainted Soul is a good catch.

I just figured Necropolitan would end up being a free template after getting back the lost level and extra XP.

As for formatting, you don't need to put so much stuff in ALL CAPS.

It's fine if you're enthusiastic, but ALL CAPS makes it hard to read.

Multiclassing And Variant Classes

Multiclassing between variants of the same class is a tricky subject. In cases where a single class offers a variety of paths (such as the totem barbarian or the monk fighting styles), the easiest solution is simply to bar multiclassing between different versions of the same class (just as a character can't multiclass between different versions of specialist wizards). For variants that are wholly separate from the character class—such as the bardic sage or the urban ranger—multiclassing, even into multiple variants of the same class, is probably okay. Identical class features should stack if gained from multiple versions of the same class (except for spellcasting, which is always separate).

In any case, only the first version of a favored class is treated as favored; a halfling rogue/wizard who later begins gaining levels in the wilderness rogue variant class can't treat both the rogue and wilderness rogue classes as favored, only the class gained first (in this case, rogue). Under no circumstances does spellcasting ability from multiple classes (even variants of the same class) stack. A character with levels of bard and levels of bardic sage has two separate caster levels and two separate sets of spells per day, even though the classes are very similar.
