Master Transmogrifist in need of a few changes

I've been looking at the master transmogrifist class, aiming to see if I can find a way to really make it shine, but I'm really struggling on the feat side of things. My initial thought was to play it as a sorcerer, so that I could polymorph at will, however I do know that wizards have a feat allowing them to do basically the same.

So without further ado, here is shifty, the master transmogrifist.

Special: Transmutation
Banned: Evocation, Enchantment

Race: ???
Class: Wizard 1/Master Specialist 6/ Master Transmogrifist 10/??? 3

Str: 10
Dex: 13 + 1 from levels = 14
Con: 16
Int: 18 +4 from levels = 22
Wis: 14
Cha: 8

Flaw: Innatentive

Feats:
Flaw: Precocious Apprentice ------------------> Practiced Spellcaster at a later date
Level 1: Spell Focus (Transmutation)
Wiz 1: Scribe Scroll
Master Specialist 1: Skill Focus (Spellcraft)
Level 3: Assume Supernatural ability
Master Specialist 3: Greater Spell Focus (Transmutation)
Level 6: Eschew Materials
Level 9: ???
Level 12: ???
Level 15: ???
Level 18: ???

From here I'm rather lost as to what will add to the build. Obviously core spells are Alter Self, Polymorph, Draconic Polymorph and eventually Shapechange.

I was thinking that maybe finishing off with Archmage might be a good idea, any thoughts on this? Also equipment isn't in the build yet, but it's not necessary as it stands, other than a collar of natural weapons.

So any thoughts at all? Race, feats etc. Would Quicken be a decent metamagic feat and if so reduction costs? Or Archmage to get polymorph to be spell-like? I don't think persistant spell is worthwhile however.

Anyways I'll back out until I see what has been said.

Also, is there a thread for decent polymorph forms? Mainly for the favoured creature ability, I feel Beholder will be in there somewhere though

You need to be wizard 3 to enter master specialist. That gives one last prestige class level, and sure go archmage if you can meet the prereqs easy. Otherwise just drop it in master spec.

Check out the unearthed arcana variant wizards.

The first one is very nice for you.

Hmmm, I'd missed the skill requirements lol. But with precocious apprentice isn't it Wizard 2 then? Wiz 2/MS x?

Heh fair play, a +2 at any point of the day.... I suppose it's a nice pump to reduce the penalties associated with Assume supernatural ability actually. But was kind of hoping to polymorph my familiar too.

 Any ideas for races/feats?

I'm pretty sure with the open feats I could meet archmage actually... would the transmutation reserve feats be worth it?

I just realised one I've missed. Master Transmogrifist needs Eschew Materials, so that can be the level 6 feat

away from books ATM. Your familiar will sort of blow on its own, only advancing for 3 levels total. So swapping it for anything is probably good.

Races- Human is really the best choice, but you have open feats already so not as big of an obvious choice. How cheesey can you get? An ancient templated elf might be a good route?

Ancient templated elf?

As far as I know, having asked about this, there is no limit on races. I would be aiming to avoid adjusting my level though, as buyoff isn't acceptable in this game. So unless it's a really good trade I'm aiming to avoid.

Also things such as divine minion are not allowed

Ancient, as in old - www.d20srd.org/srd/description.htm#age

Grants mental stat boosts. find some elf that naturally gets an int boost, and then make him venerable.

Ah, well if that's the case maybe a venerable elf? Use polymorph to permanently change into a younger version, taking the physical stats of an average elf to offset the penalty? Same sort of thing as dragonwroughting a kobold maybe? Does that even work?

Also, now you've mentioned templates... I know taking caster level hits is a pain... but would it be worth taking a template that boosts the level? Or maybe since I'm focusing on transmutation then the trait that makes transmuting better?

I'm not aiming to 'break' the character, just make them strong enough to compete with almost CODzilla etc. It's a high power game you see. So I need it to be strong
