| #1dwn3Aug 28, 2009 12:00:03 | I'm trying to design a tank around the polymorph spell that was updated in player's handbook 2, Mastertransmogrifist gives up 9th level spells, but i was looking for a way to make a viable tank out of a battlesorceror/master transmogrifist using polymorph.
The current design was a Angel Planetar (Base race aasimer gives outsider right?) with a hydra's fast healing thrown in to make a pretty unkillable tank. that's regen 10 evil plus fast healing 22 give or take some other things i can add to the build. The only real problem is combat... players handbook 2 states that all equipment melds into the spell, so how can we equip the Angel for combat? does polymorph give it it's signature sword? can you find armor or weapons that don't meld into polymorph?
Or am I looking at this from the wrong angle? should i do something like a hydra with fire immunity or an angels regeneration? (this build is for fighting a great wyrm red, with the rest of my group.) |

My party's druid get's armor that doesn't shift in. Perhaps you could get something like that. Wildshape functions exactly as polymorph excluding a few named instances. Also, any weapons he has, he just drops them on the ground as a free action right before changing. So, you would drop your weapons, cast polymorph, and pick the weapons back up as a move action. |

It takes awhile to take armor on and off in combat, the ring of arming might work though. |

Armor isn't really a requirement with the natural armor boost etc, but the weapon would come in really handy. The next thing was the infinite variety bonus, should I take the will-o-wisp's immunity to most magic or the hydra's massive fast healing or is there some other cool ability I can't find? Oh and wouldn't a ring of arming meld into you with polymorph? |

Or Wilding Clasp, yeah. |

You don't need equipment. 12 attacks from a hydra (possibly 24 with grafting) and maybe some bonus damage or poison, only about 4 of those need to hit to level most any common target. If you really are in need consider taking the Vow of Poverty feat (which grants bonuses to stats while transformed), or use Reserves of Strength (DLCS) to uncap your HD limits on polymorph and turn into epic creatures.
