I want to make an artificer PC with a mechanical hand i found nothing on the forums except for this:

http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=924286&highlight=mechanical+hand
but in this link they describe a house-ruled item i guess...

I already know about the Hand Of Vecna but is not what i'm looking for....

The Hand i'm looking for should have these attributes:

1) full maneuverability like a real hand

2) should allow smth else that could replace the inability to use rings

any ideas?

ty in advance

There's an "extra arm" item in one of the Eberron books, I think.

Take a look at renegade mastermaker in Magic of Eberron. It's pretty close to what you're describing.

well there are magical prosthetic limbs in a 3rd party book called torn asunder. Some of them are useful such as an arm that can hold 4 wands, a hand of holding, and an arm that can extend up to 5 ft.

Mighty Arms in Magic(or was it Faiths?) of Eberron is a warforged graft that gives a non-warforged a slam attack and lets them use warfoged components(such as a battlefist).
There's also leg grafts that give immunity to fatigue in there.

Just ask your DM if you can pay the full price to just get a single metal arm graft and a single leg graft. Then you can be the Full Metal Artificer.

Spare Hand (Magic Items Compendium , pg 137) - is probably what you are looking for. Though you must spend infusions to power it, so that it gets more agile and functional.

There was a magic item, I don't remember where or what it was called, but it was basically a hand forged some semimolten silver. It replaced your normal hand and gave you a +2 unnamed bonus to strength. It behaved for all intents and purposes as a normal hand though, including the fact that you could wear rings on it.

Hand of lugh I think -in Defenders of the Faith

In Magic of Eberron there is the "Spare Hand" which is an arm and hand that is worn on your belt. You power it with infusions and it can help you fight, take out items as free actions, and for the most part just carries stuff for you. There's also a variant that gets you two spare hands on the same belt.

Though it's not as good as the other suggestions here, in MM2 there's the Half-Golem template. Pretty lousy template, but half iron golem is sort of what you're looking for (you're not really "half" golem, you just trade a limb for the limb of a golem).

It's called the Arm of Nyr, actually.

Arm of Nyr: This artificial arm made of mithral replaces an arm that has been lost by a good character. It will not function for a neutral character. An evil character who tries to attach it takes 1d4 points of temporary Dexterity damage. A character who makes successful use of the arm gains +2 Strength and +2 Dexterity. The arm also provides a +2 deflection bonus to Armor Class. Generally, 70% of these items are left arms and 30% are right arms, though there are rumors of rare arms that adapt to the user.

Caster Level: 6th; Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, animate object, shield; Market Price: 12,800 gp; Weight: —.

You could theoretically have two of these arms for +4 Strength and +4 Dexterity, or four of these arms if you're a thri-kreen for +8 Strength and +8 Dexterity. The big problem with using Arms of Nyr is that if you get hit with a targeted (Greater) Dispel Magic or a Mordenkainen's Disjunction, or you enter an Antimagic Field, there goes the use of your arms.

Still need a hand with your build?

well ty maybe just some suggestion if u don't mind

atm i need to develop 2 version cuz i don't know if my group will be evil or good/neutral...

in case will be neutral/good i thought i could use smth inspired by this Caelic build http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=4257180&postcount=85

a diplo-buffer

but i will switch the race to human with MAgic-Blooded (Spark) template from dragon magazine #306 for the bonus CHA and for some BG/flavor reasons (tha magic-blooded traits caused him to born with white hair and strange eyes so he was abandoned and raised by nymphs so i can roleplay also the nymph's kiss ).
Also i will implement the mechanical hand (still in doubt which of urs suggestion i should take: the arm of nyr seems nice and also the half-golem template picking just 1 hand..or maybe i will take the hand of nyr house-ruling it for less bonuses but granting protection from dispel magic and such....yet to decide...)

I was also considering to remove marshall...

BTW if the group will be evil i should forget 'bout nymph's kiss and this sucks a lot :D so i don't know what kind of artificer i should be...maybe still a diplo-buffer but i would need smth to replace nymph's kiss...or maybe a buffer/blaster removing human paragon and marshal levels going with a straight artificer build trying to balance buff metamagic feats and blaster feats

i will use also 1 flaw (maybe 2) ...yet to decide which flaw :D

btw the caelic build seems fine for me, i just would remove that marshal lvl cuz we will start from low levels (2 or maybe if i'm lucky 4 :D :D :D)

Other options include undead grafts and haunt shifting an animate dead skeleton (awakened with Awaken Undead) to control your hand for you.

Usually in DnD you solve that with a casting of Regenerate.
That's 910gp, if i'm doing the math right.

So um... yeah... :D

Grafts aren't magic items. They don't have caster levels to roll against for dispel.

The only relationship they bear to magic items is needing a distinct amount of time/money/materials to craft.

Hmm...I can't be the first person to think of FMA.

Anyhow, if you want to still be able to wear rings, you can legally wear two rings on one hand. Otherwise, there is the Hand of Glory, which in my opinion is ridiculously underpriced. 8,000 gp for a necklace that essentially grants an epic feat as well as Daylight and See Invisibility once per day each? That's awesome.

~P_X~

That's exactly what he was talking about - someone offered a magic arm that can be targeted by dispel magic or disjunction, and then some other guy offered undead grafts. So the guy you replied to said that while the grafts can't be dispelled, they're not necessarily better because they can be turned using Turn Undead.

I just quickly checked Libris Mortis, and I can't find anywhere in the Graft section that says that Turn Undead has any effect on the grafts.

So unless it's in some other source, TU doesn't effect the grafts.

Note that he wasn't talking about turning a Graft, but rather a Haunt-Shifted Awakened Skeleton that was possessing a mechanical hand. However, whilst a Haunt Shift is possessing something, it is immune to turning so the answer stays the same.

Thanks, I see that now.

Still wouldn't be a bad idea to get a graft, since the only way to get rid of it is by killing you to cut it off...
