| #1ryokou_kavallionFeb 21, 2010 3:06:48 | I apologize if this is the wrong forum. I am trying to make a character that is able to make weapons from her body. (Think Kimimaro from Naruto for those who know the reference) However, she can produce metals and is partial to Mercury. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on any classes that would be able to reflect her ability to make this weapons and the potential "poison" effect Mercury has on the human body. I am allowed to use any splat books and I am also allowed to make minor aesthetic/flavor text changes. |

You might want to look into the Greenstar Adept (half-progression arcane caster who turns himself into a metal-based living construct over time) for a caster-based "gish lite" alternative. GSA isn't very optimized, but can be quite decent and is dripping with flavor. The mercury stuff can remain strictly fluff; I'd actually recommend this. Try and get your mechanical abilities through playing the right race/classes, then say your natural attacks are actually weapons formed from your body, and describe them as looking like quicksilver suddenly solidifying, then melting again, or SATL. BTW, mercury is only poisonous to the human body if it is inhaled. Mercury partly vaporizes even at room temperature, and it is quite a potent inhaled toxin. The effect is not quick, though. (Inhaled) mercury accumulates in the body over time and erodes basic metabolic functions. I wouldn't count on it being poisonous in the D&D sense. Very few "real" poisons are, in fact. |

Roll a reflex save versus traps. |

Soulknifes aren't anywhere near as good as Incarnates, but they have the advantage of multiple weapon forms once they hit 5th level as well as weapon properties on their weapon. Incarnates basically are forced to go into Kensai if they want those. |

I would use the Soulknife if it wasn't for the fact that they do not create metal weapons. Not entirely sure how big of a difference it would make in game to be able to create actual weaponry. Wings_of_Peace can you explain yourself? |

He means Greenstar Adept is a weak prestige class, especially if you take the 10th level of it. How about a: warforged (wild-shape) ranger 5/master of many forms 10/warshaper 5? And mercury isn't really very poisonous at all. You'd need to be exposed to it over and over for a long period of time in most cases before you even noticed anything. I know (older) people who actually used to play with it as kids. |
