The character has selected Linked Power and Metapower(Linked Hammer) as two feats. My interpretation is that to benifit from both feats, he must manifest hammer as the first power but could chose any power for the second power. This second power (the extra cost of the metapsionic feat) is reduced by two. So if he wanted to manifest Linked Hammer+Hammer it'd cost him 1 pp. If he wanted he could manifest linked+hammer+augmented hammer(extend one round for one pp) for the cost of still 1 pp. the player seems to think that the hammer that gets reduced could be either of the powers in the linked power. So he could do Linked Expansion+Hammer and still reduce the cost of hammer by 2. Or he could do Hammer+Expansion and reduce the cost of hammer by 2. What do you think the correct interpretation of these feats? |

For instance, if your PC picks linked power and hammer, his psychic warrior now knows the new power: linked hammer, and he pays up to 2 less power points whenever he manifests linked hammer, and 2 less points whenever he manifests hammer with any other metapsionic feat he may know, but only 2 less pp per metapower feat. Whenever you use Linked Power, you spend ALL the power points the round you manifest the powers and the metapsionic feat. So whenever he manifests Linked Hammer, or Hammer with another metapsionic feat he knows, he reduces the total cost of pp spent by 2, to a minimum of 1 pp for the manifestation; augments included. This total cannot exceed his ML as normal. Linked Expansion choosing Hammer costs 1 (expansion) + 1 (the cost of hammer for Linked Power) + any augmentations he wants to add for either power. Linked Hammer choosing Expansion to go off next round costs 1 (hammer) + 1 (the cost of expansion for Linked Power) + any augmentations he wants to add to either power - 2 (metapower). You are right, he must modify hammer with a metapsionic feat directly to get the -2 benefit. |

So take this with a grain of salt : Metapower modifies the Metapsionic. (Power X) plus (Metapsi Y) plus Metapower = (Power X normal cost) plus (Metapsi Y -2 cost) Like most things in CPsi, there's a can of worms attached to it. iirc - the wording of Metapower is refering to the original power. As in (Power X) could be Energy Missile. And (Metapsi Y) could be Empower. So when the two are combined into three ... the feat Metapower works with the two bases of power + metapsi. So in this case using Linked metapsi, the incidental cost of Linked is reduced by 2. The thing that causes the incidental cost (huzzah! power going off next round) has nothing to do with the overall effect of the metapower; just the cost. But this might not be all that clear; from my writing or not iirc. Using your example: { Hammer is Power X } plus { Linked is metapsi Y } plus { Metapower modifies Hammer+Linked } So what does the Linked cost? Dude picked Hammer so it costs whatever (1+Augs) ends up being ... then minus two. Net effect is Hammer this round, and a Linked Hammer next round. |
