| #1nephew_of_istvanMay 09, 2009 1:54:18 | I'm trying to find ways to add scores other than my Dexterity to my Armor Class. Short backstory: Cleric/Warlock/Eldritch Disciple Campaign is about to begin, so still 1st level Human. DM has allowed Hideous Blow to not provoke OAs, and get extra attacks for things like high BAB and Haste. I know i want Wisdom to be my highest score, and then I found Zen Archery, which is good for when I need to use Eldritch Blast, so i'm looking for a way to boost my Armor Class without having to rely on my Dexterity. My highest stats are Wisdom and Charisma, followed by Strength, then Constitution, Int, and Dex. Any options, or am I going to need to rely on things like Cat's Grace and Divine Agility? I should also add that I'm trying not to Multiclass any more than the Cleric/Warlock for ED, so i'm really hoping for feat options and/or spells. |

At first level, you may be better off avoiding melee and blasting with EB. You only get one attack anyways, and attacking for 1d6 vs touch seems about as good at 1d6+str vs AC. |

Dodge, Chosen Foe, tower shield proficiency, parrying weapon, etc. You could go for the feat stone power and just have temporary hit points and not worry about getting hit. |
| #4nephew_of_istvanMay 09, 2009 2:40:36 | Is Eldritch Glaive ok? Well, he's a Human Cleric of Thor. He likes hitting stuff with a Warhammer. Channeling Thor's Power (Read -- Eldritch Blast) through the Hammer is a big boost for him. I'm trying to find ways to optimize him without going out of his theme. Having good STR is not a problem, i'm just trying to find ways to not have to waste points in DEX just to boost my AC, since i'll probably be taking my fare share of hits. |

| #6ezzeranMay 09, 2009 9:07:16 | I have a Dark Six Cleric/Warlock/Eldritch theurge that has very similar stats to yours. However, I've forsaken the heavy armor route (actually, he's a cloistered cleric, so that's part of the reason why.) Even so, Monk's Belt and Bracers of Armor can go a long way for you here. Monk's belt applies to touch AC and Bracers of Armor are considered an armor bonus even though they don't count as wearing armor. With the monk's belt alone and his 20 wisdom, that's a straight up +6 to AC, and that's only at 8th level without any buff spells. Incidentally, Owl's Wisdom is great for this kind of build, as it ups both your ranged attack and AC. :D It's not as cool as stomping around in platemail, perhaps, but that may be the differences in our characters. My cleric is designed to be a bit sneaky. Ezz |

| #8carnivoreMay 09, 2009 19:43:25 | Mithril Tesselated Armor. Spiked Mithril Tesselated Armor. :D why not Spiked Adamantine Halfweight Mountain Plate.... Halfweight :D |
| #9phaedrusxyMay 10, 2009 0:08:12 | Because Tesselated armor is cooler. :P Nothing is cooler than having a bunch of spikey pieces of mithril crawl over you to form your armor. :D (Well, no armor is cooler.) |
| #10nephew_of_istvanMay 10, 2009 1:10:47 | Source books for those armors? Edit: I just googled Tesselated Armor. 2nd google link was this topic. I googled myself. |

| #12phaedrusxyMay 10, 2009 12:57:49 | Source books for those armors? Tesselated Armor is from the Arms and Equipment Guide. It is a specific +2 Full Plate that looks like a bunch of identical pieces of metal that climb onto you to form the armor when given a command word. It counts as medium armor, also. So if you make it out of mithril, it would be light. Just using normal full plate, and buying a Ring of Arming (MiC) and Tooth of Savnok (ToM or MiC) is probably better, but this would be way cooler. :D |
| #13nephew_of_istvanMay 10, 2009 15:39:00 | Was planning on taking Battle Caster at 3rd level when I take Warlock anyway, so Medium Armor is not a problem. |
| #14xakypshalornMay 11, 2009 10:15:59 | Is that even necessary? Warlocks abilities are SLA's, is armor an issue for them (proficiency aside, which, of course, your guy has coverred by his cleric level) Edit: That's assuming I have my head on straight and Battle Casting is the feat that increases the category of armor that you don't have arcane spell failure with. |

Warlocks abilities are SLA's, is armor an issue for them (proficiency aside, which, of course, your guy has coverred by his cleric level) Yes, it's necessary. Warlocks SLAs specifically say they incur ASF for any armor heavier than light. I'd still want light armor, to avoid the speed decrease (or at least get a Tooth of Savnok :P ). |
