| #1tezcacoatlMay 18, 2008 18:17:56 | I need help coming up with a good character build for Undermountain Campaign. The players are 3rd lvl, one is a fighter, cleric, and sorcerer. I will be coming in the game as a help and to be one of the characters they rely on. I am limited to using only the PHB, later on I might be able to use the PHB2 and/or using other books for a prestige class. The half-elf is part drow, with the only thing changing is darkvision 60ft instead of low-light vision and it has elven & drow blood. I would also like to have studded leather as the armor and a composite bow +2 or +3, and exotic weapon prof. (bastard sword) and I would love to have a tiger as a familiar/companion as early as I can get one even if I have to change the standard stats, if I could make it as a cat for a familiar and have a build so it improves with lvl that would be nice just so its weak for first lvl character but becomes as strong later on and become a dire tiger in future. Some time in the future or now I would like to be able to cast spells, but would like to be melee as well. Once again I will be the person holding up the party, whether its healing to keep players alive, to becoming equal to a fighter/ranger/barbarian and maybe be able to be help as a rogue. Character background is half-wild elf breed with drow. So its kinda wild but also so what familiar with city life. Any help would be good as well as ideas into making the character now and future aspects. I thank who ever can help me in my endeavor. |

Lets go through this one by one. First off, EWP Bastard Sword is bad. The difference between a longsword and a bastard sword is a d8 to a d10. This is terrible for the sake of one feat. Rule of thumb: if you take Exotic Weapon Proficiency for anything that doesn't give you ten foot reach, allow you to trip, gives you bonuses to disarm and rhymes with Shmicked Chain, something is wrong. Second, I'd like more info about your party; how are stats generated? What kind of characters are the other party members? Is the campaign high magic, low magic, etc? As it looks right now, you party seems fairly rounded out (has a tank, has a divine, has an arcane). The only party role missing is skillmonkey; if no one in the party can search for traps and stuff, you might be leaving a huge gap. Consider a role change. Like the below poster said, Druid 20 is the pinnacle of all CO work. If you don't want to change your role in the party, thats the best way to go. As for race, Half Drow is good, especially with Deep Wyrm- its considered the strongest half-elf race. |

Second, stats to go with my character are 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 14. The campaign is taking place in the Mad Wizard's dungeon. I dont know anything really about the dungeon. And I dont know if its low magic or high, I had just joined the game a day ago. Third the party isnt as fairly rounded out as you or I thought it to be. The "Tank" makes stupid moves that get it killed a lot quicker in combat, and do to that the cleric is wasting his healings all on him just to keep the fighter to stay above 0 hp, while the sorcerer is limited to using magic missle. I know we could use a rogue and when I came into the game they made it seem like Im the guy to save them. So Im gonna go with a character thats like the Demi-God(leader) in the group, to be able to do all and to get the party through the dungeon. |
