Since it follows the logic of the race, I was thinking of allowing Mongrelfolk to take any racial feats they might qualify for, from any race, but in addition let them also take any racial substitution levels from any of the races, assuming they're the right class. The question is, is this workable, or is there some PunPun level god-killer lurking in this rules interpretation? |

| #3PlzBreakMyCampaignMar 15, 2009 0:52:52 | Sounds flavorful, atleast |
| #4CantripNMar 15, 2009 1:02:28 | But be sure to limit this to LA +0, Humanoid races. Otherwise, I can see people using this for Goliath, Warforged or Fangshield Subs. |

The warforged would be a little hard to explain in the family tree. Though they are LA +0. Goliaths, OTOH... What's a fangshield? |

| #7Kevin_Andrew_MurphyMar 15, 2009 5:18:59 | I don't think so. I was just looking at the Racial Emulation feat for Changelings and it basically does this already, and even has much the same wording as Emulate Race. So I think it does fit with the intent of the rules (and the much needed and finally good mongrelman makeover into the mongrelfolk). Of course build-wise, it seems probably better to just play a changelings than mongrelfolk, but I'm thinking there should be some fun things to do with it. |
| #8ekluagMar 15, 2009 5:21:43 | The question would be whether or not they are allowed to take multiple racial subs for the same class, which could be problematic. However, nothing immediately pops into mind, although someone could help me check Here. Racial feats might be to much and there are some that are definitely unavailable, but the DM can moderate this. |

| #10volatrisMar 15, 2009 14:11:06 | Strong feats that are resticted to a race that normally don't get mixed together:
|
| #11tshernMar 15, 2009 15:30:06 | But I still don't think that makes Mongrelfolk too powerful. Dragonwrought is crap for them (they'd only get +2 wis and +1 int and cha) as well as Able learner due to their intelligence penalty. While not too bad, still not overwhelmingly good. This is not a bad modification. A very tasteful one, if you ask me, but definitely puts Mongrelfolk to a high tier of races. |
| #12atomickitkatMar 15, 2009 19:59:21 | Their ancestry is limited to the 7 base PHB races though. Personally, when you mentioned Racial Feats, I was thinking of Gnoll Ferocity. Not that it would have been too helpful though.:P |
