Mar 14, 2008 10:21:13 Hey guys, I just made a monk/paladin build and my dm is still letting me tweak it so I was wondering if you could help me optimize it?

Ok so here is the build up untill level 5
Aasimar +2 Cha and +2 Wis
Wis 20 Dex 16 Con 14 str 10 cha 11 int 10

1Paladin Intuitive Strike
2Paladin
3Paladin Serenity
4Monk Improved Unarmed Strike, Stunning fist (decisive strike variant ph2)
5Monk Combat Reflexes Ascectic Knight(took a flaw made by dm in exchange)

Here is what I am planning for my next few levels

6Paladin (holy warrior variant) Divine Vigor, Improved Natural Attack
7Paladin Charging Smite Variant

at level 9 I am getting the Superior Unarmed Strike or Flying Kick, and will be investing in a monk's belt relatively soon.

My dm doesnt allow much from ToB, or else this would have been a swordsage/paladin build.

What do you guys think so far?

Mar 14, 2008 11:53:42 Where are you going from here? Are you heading for Argent Fist (Faithsof Eberron) or continuing Monk/Paladin?

If I were you I'd aim for a 14 Strength, even with Intuitive Attack the damage is always useful, and if you do go Argent Fist you'll need to be able to carry some armour.

Mar 14, 2008 17:26:50 no argent fist, we dont use anything from eberron.

I am most likely going to continue with just paladin, maybe another 2 monk levels for the holy fist variant(cc) and some other monk stuff.

Mar 15, 2008 11:36:40 If you can use OA, check out the Shintao monk - in the Dragon 318 update it got smite evil instead of smite shadowland, so it should stack.

Another option is to use Pious Templar if your unarmed strike is your deity's holy weapon - between the extra feats, pally spels, WSpec (and thus WMastery) you should do fairly well. You might want to take a few levels of Shou Disciple, but it's less necessary - especially if your DM doesn't allow it to stack for Dec-strike.

If neither FR nor Eb material is allowed, Pious Templar or Sacred Fist - both in CDivine - would be my prime choices. For SFist, I think you simply needed to take Combat Casting (meh, I know, but still) for your next level.PT requires WFocus and another slightly less impressive feat.

Actually, I'd probably suggest using SFist to advance pious templar casting, if you're interested.
