Until you realise that you can't put more than 4 skill points into a skill at level 1. No 31 languages for you.

Speak Language is handled Differently... notice:

SPEAK LANGUAGE (NONE; TRAINED ONLY)
Table: Common Languages and Their Alphabets

Action: Not applicable.

Try Again: Not applicable. There are no Speak Language checks to fail.

The Speak Language skill doesn’t work like other skills. Languages work as follows.

You start at 1st level knowing one or two languages (based on your race), plus an additional number of languages equal to your starting Intelligence bonus.
You can purchase Speak Language just like any other skill, but instead of buying a rank in it, you choose a new language that you can speak.
You don’t make Speak Language checks. You either know a language or you don’t.
A literate character (anyone but a barbarian who has not spent skill points to become literate) can read and write any language she speaks. Each language has an alphabet, though sometimes several spoken languages share a single alphabet.

there is no limit on how many languages you can get... since you Dont buy Ranks in it... you purchase Languages

hmm,

19/20 int race + 3 venerable = int 22ish (+6)

scout 8 + 6 x 4= 56
2 feats = 10
2 flaws = 2 feats = 10

isnt that 76?

now, if we add a casting of foxes cunning, thanks spell casting services..

we can add another 8.. for 84...

i did scout because speak lang is on its list and its 8+ int..

2 ish from racial lang, 8 from int nd 84 from skills looks like 94 languages..

at what point do you have to start making them up?

good job... but you are only @ 76..... Foxes Cunning does not Add Skill points that you can Spend on Languages

if only Rogue had Speak language on its Skill list.... then Changeling Rogue Sub lvl 1 would be great with 10 skill points

I realize comprehend languages allows me to read any written language, but that's beside the point. I'm interested in languages my character knows and can fluently speak, write, and read.

if only Rogue had Speak language on its Skill list.... then Changeling Rogue Sub lvl 1 would be great with 10 skill points

:D

You can do this one of the changeling racial traits is that they add speak language to there class list. Also the illumian from races of destiny also add speak language to there class list

Hellbred. They retain the ability to speak all the languages they spoke in their previous life. Just play a Hellbred who had Polyglot when they were alive.

Probably not the record, but I once made an NPC Old Sun Elf Rogue with Gift of Tongues from Races of Faerun. That feat makes Speak Language always a class skill, gives you 2 bonus languages at 1st, and (effectively) adds all languages to your 'bonus language' list for languages you actually can select. If you spent all your Rogue skills on Speak Language, it could be a respectable showing.

If you took two Flaws and added 2x Open Minded, you're looking at 74 (6 from Int (Base Int 18 + 2 Sun Elf + 2 Old = 22) + 2 from Gift of Tongues + 56 from Skill ranks ((8 + 6)*4 = 56) + 10 from Open Minded = 74)

Pretty close, looks like.
