| #1johnmcmahonApr 23, 2009 4:05:00 | I have been looking at making my cleric build into a mounted cleric, i am however not quite sure how to make it happen. The things already decided on: Race: Lesser Aasimar (no LA) Class: Cleric of Ellistrae Stats: 18,18,17,17,16,16 Flaws: Murkyeyed, inattentive Alt. Class Features: Divine Magician, Dragonscale Husk (None of them are set in stone however) I feel like im drawing a blank, i have no ideas except perhaps to prestigeclass into prestige paladin or knight of the raven. Any ideas? Complete builds and tricks would surely be appreciated. /John |

Flying Mounts work best what is your starting level? Cleric 6/ Prestige Paladin 3/ Knight of the Raven 10/ Contemplative 1 would be a nice start :D |

It gets the inquisition domain which can be traded for Knowledge devotion and the extra feats from ordained champ are worth it for taking mounted combat, etc. Also the extra smites by burning turning attempts are great for a melee build like this. I would start with War, Pride, and Knowledge domains, and then pick up Inquisition and Destiny domains, but trade these for feats at Ordained Champ. 1. If you are allowed DMM stuff this build has the potential to do ridiculous things with persist choose destiny from destiny domain or persist foresight from knowledge domain. You can also persist prismatic sphere after you gain the sun domain towards the end of the build. |

Both builds look sharp, but how about feat selection? #MarcB How many caster levels do i lose? *Edit* And how do i get a nice flying mount? ( i want a gold dragon, but i dont think it is possible..) |

As far as feats are concerned here's list of good ones The classic DMM cleric has the following feats 1) Extend Spell 2) Persist Spell 3) Divine Metamagic (Persist) 4) Extra Turning In this build I would definitely take 5) Practiced Spellcaster (Cleric)- which makes your effective caster lvl eaual to your character lvl in this build, so that if you can only cast 8th lvl spells at lvl 17 at least you cast them as a 17th lvl caster. 6) Mounted Combat-needed to get Prestige Paladin take at Ord. Champ 1 7) Power Attack- never hurts when you're a melee guy- also take as Ord. Champ 1 feat 8) Die Hard- comes free with Ord. Champ Some goodies for the fighter side of you include 9) Leadership (if its allowed) 10) Battle Blessing (it allows you to quicken paladin spells Other options if you have flaws might include 9) Divine Might 10) Holy Warrior 11) Awesome Smite Also there are some feats from Dragon magazine which might let you get a dragon mount. Holy mount is a dragon mag feat that lets you add one other divine caster lvl to your paladin lvl for determining mount properties, so instead of a 6th lvl mount you would have a 23rd lvl mount (depending upon rules). Then you could take the dragon steed feat from draconomicon (Prereq: Ride 8 ranks, Cha 13, speak draconic), which would allow you a young gold dragon mount at lvl 20. |
