| #1purinadragonchowMar 24, 2008 9:31:13 | I was thinking of a character concept that involved a bounty hunter type, who would pursue his prey relentlessly. One of the keys to the build was multiple move speeds. The target is on a rooftop? I fly up there. He sails across the lake? I swim after him. I envisioned this guy being a melee-type, even though I know wild shape would make this concept easier. So far, I was thinking Dragonborn Aventi (for a fly speed at 6 HD and a swim speed) plus one level of ape totem barbarian (for a climb speed). Possibly going Elemental Warrior (burrow). I really would like to get these move speeds without using spells or items. I was also thinking of going Horizon Walker later on. Any suggestions? Assume any WotC material is available. |

In other words, perfect for Moles.) * Ashworm Dragoon (Sand) (Gains an Ashworm mount and can breathe while underground) Items * Burrowing Claws (LoM) (Illithid Graft, grants burrow speed) Spells (and similar) * Footsteps of the Divine (CC) (some dieties grant burrow speeds) * Haste (PHB) (+30ft enhancement bonus to all forms of movement.) * Lamia Belt soulmeld (Waist Chakra Bind, +10ft to all speeds, grants Spring Attack) Mounts * Stone Flyer (Und) (Earth Glide for itself and rider) 12500gp total training Feats * Speed of Thought (XPH) (+10ft insight bonus to all speeds) |

Some options: UA variant that lets a ranger get some wildshape Nature's Warrior (Complete Warrior) Warshaper (also complete war i think, but not sure) Vow of Poverty (book of exalted deeds) is decent for wildshapers. (and makes it easy to get exalted wild shape). |
| #4altpersonaMar 24, 2008 15:30:09 | between wild shape, shapechange, alterself, and incorporeal you should be able to solve any movement issue.. |
| #5purinadragonchowMar 24, 2008 15:32:53 | I understand that wildshape would make this easy, but it doesn't fit the character concept I have in my mind. I'm really looking for alternate ways to get these abilities. |
| #6vulcanusMar 24, 2008 16:07:54 | Why bother swimming? Is there a rule that says you can't fly over the water and not wear yourself out and get yourself all wet? |
| #7purinadragonchowMar 24, 2008 16:13:21 | Hypothetically, I can imagine circumstances in which you'd have to go underwater - underground streams with no air, for example. |
| #8surrealMar 24, 2008 16:24:50 | Try the "lists of stuff" link in my sig and look up the section on speeds. |
| #9aftercrescentMar 24, 2008 16:27:04 | What kind of level adjustment are you looking at? A were-dire flying animal Shadow (or Dark) Mineral Warrior Aventi has everything you need and does it quickly... |

This character won't be a caster, so LA is okay. Although, ideally, I'd rather keep it as low as possible. Surreal, thank for that. Good stuff. I didn't see Ape Totem Barbarian (UA) listed under climb speed though (but I might have missed it). |
