#1 salarion Apr 05, 2012 20:59:02	Question about Concentration I'm searching for a way to have multiple concentraction checks per round.  With Extraordinary Concentration feat you can take two checks, you sacrifice your Swift action however. If we add Haste here we can get two checks as our two move actions and a possible third check as Swift. Can this number be increased? I'd be happy with something along the lines of 4 checks without wasting my swift action. The duration has to be 24/7. Took steady concentration feat until I increase my concentration until I get +43 on the modifer. Any spells/tricks that increase concentration? Salarion
#2 Maat_Mons Apr 05, 2012 21:27:11	Haste doesn't grant an extra action in 3.5. You can't cast a spell while concentrating on another one. The familiar concentration feat (Lost Empires of Faerun) lets you transfer concentration to your familiar. This frees up your actions and allows you to cast spells again. The extra familiar feat (Dragon 280, p62) gives you, as the name suggests, an extra familiar. You can take the feat repeatedly for more familiars. With familiar concentration, you should be able to have each familiar maintain concentration on a different spell.
#3 salarion Apr 05, 2012 21:38:40	Right Haste grants extra attack now.  Hmm, that's a rather expensive method. Anything else comes to mind? What's the point of swift concetration then, or extraordinary concentration feat? If you lose the ability to do anything. I presumed you can't cast because you've spent your action. But true that would be obvious without needing to state so specificly.  Damn, I have to agree with you. I'm already feat strained as it is, to squeeze in a few more more feats will be difficult.

#5 salarion Apr 06, 2012 14:28:44	Gestalt Build high power campaign Conjurer1/Master Specialist 1/Mindbender 1/ Incantatrix 3/ IotSF 7/ Archmage 2/ (To be decided)  // Druid 5/Geomancer 1/Planar Shepard 10/ Druid 9 Basicly the goal of concentration check is to have an ongoing Planar Bubble 24/7 with some shield spells that deal damage when attacked (some require concentration) with Fel Drain [Metamagic]  At the moment I'm at 4d6+1d12+1d6+1+2d6+5 Negative Levels + veil whenever I'm attacked.  The GM is rather prepeared for us and we do end every day with everything depleted.  Instead of xp per encounter we gain a static 1 level per session, seeing sessions last for about 10 hours with a few graveyards filled that sounds about ok. The other party member is Sorc1/Incantatrix 10/ War Mage (From Age of Mortals) 5 /Mindbender 1/ (to be decied)// Conjurer 1/ Cleric 3/dwemonkeeper 10/  (to be decided) Yes we used early entry tricks. Yes we wanted to play this kind of game, actually we're having immense fun as the two of us want to conquer the world.  Yes we roleplay. We're both LE. I'm aware of the alignnment problem seeing I'm a druid, however I wanted to play LE and I had an agreement with my GM about it seeing I want to roleplay LE as I've never done it before, did LN so nothing new there.  He's a Dragonwrought Loredrake Venerable Kobold with a few God Touched templates brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.p... modeled after the lolth touched. Some were a bit tweaked but we all agreed they are within limits of balanced if a bit cheesy. I'm well a Half-Ogre/Effigiy Creature/Incarnate Construct/Primordial Giant with god touched templates and Vecna Blooded template. My int score is 45 at the moment. Yes we understand it's too much and still mobs resist our spells.  Back to the problem I have. I want to be able to have ongoing concentration spells so I that anyone who attacks me gets at least 10 negative levels. This is the first time I'm playing a druid so exploring his spell list is still something I have to do though.  All that on the side though, I need to be able to concentrate on Planar Bubble for it to be 24/7 with me still being able to cast. All books allowed and Dragon Magazine allowed, no third party content. However if you do know any third party content that would allow this please tell, I'll make a note of it somewhere.  Salarion
#6 New-Shadow Apr 06, 2012 20:13:40	I see...which God-Touched templates?  Are you guys Epic (due to the massive LA you must have) or did I miscount levels?  Do you have LA buyoff? I know that psicyrstals can also hold concetration checks, but that's my knowledge limit for that sort of thing.    All in all this may be a little out of my league, bitting off more than I can chew.  I have no experience AT ALL with this type of game.  Having said that, I will help in any way I can, taking this problem bite by bite if I have to.

We do plan to progress this into epic where the story arc will revolve around us  replacing the current pantheon.  Vecna, Wee Jas and Boccob templates. Half Ogre is +1, Effigiy Creature N/A LA, Incarnate Construct is -2LA, when I apply three god touched and one god blooded I'm at +3 LA.  Would a psycrystal require me to dip psion? I can lose maybe 2 levels of druid and one from wizard. But I was planning to go for 3 lev cleric for Initiate of Mystra and casting in AMFs. I think getting extra feats would be easier then going psionic. As we can use Dark Chaos Shuffle to get the feats we need, just have to have a feat to replace.  Any feat that grants a feat within it self? I'm at 25 feats at the moment and I'd probably need 15 more to pull everything. Though it's getting hard to find ways to increase feat number.  Anyone knows more locations like otyugh's hole that grants feats?
#8 Maat_Mons Apr 06, 2012 23:11:47	Some of the things in this thread grant feats. A Faustian pact (Fiendish Codex II, p23) can give you an extra feat in exchange for your soul. Swearing allegiance to an elder evil gives you a bonus vile feat at 1st level and every level divisible by 5 (Elder Evils, p10). You need the psicrystal affinity feat to get a psicrystal. It's a psionic feat, so you need a power point reserve to take it. You need to be able to manifest solicit psicrystal to pass off concentration, though you should be able to duplicate it with limited wish. The real problem is the 1 round/level duration, since it doesn't qualify for persistent spell. Maybe you can use limited wish to duplicate feat leech and use metamagic spell effect to apply persistent spell. (Is touch a "fixed range?") The fact that effigy creature doesn't have a level adjustment means it can't be taken by a player character.
#9 salarion Apr 08, 2012 1:15:25	Well I don't know what metapowers exist, but Arcane Reach would make Solicit Persitable. touch is not a fixed range. only something expressed in feet like Range: 30 feat, or Emmanation from you: 10 feet has a fixed range. Already swore to an elder evil, already singed a faustian pact.  Well this might work, Wild Talent Psycrystal Affinity Extend Power Persist Power Use my incantatrix to persist the power with Psycraft check instead of spellcraft? Would this be acceptable by RAW? And limited wish as SLA or Su to avoid XP cost. Though can I achive the same through familiars so I don't have to take extra three feats? www.d20srd.org/srd/classes/sorcererWizar... the familiar only gets my ranks + his Con modifer for Concentration. Which is far off from 34. Can i apply my bonuses to the familiar in any way?
