I have been playing in a gestalt game and I have been interested in creating a tripper/grappler. I have Human Chaos Monk 6/Physic Warrior 6 that has taken a vow of poverty for some flavor, I took the psionics for some buffs and +str abilities. I have taken Imp grapple, scorpions grab (which gives me imp grab), imp trip etc. and at 8th level knockdown out of the sword and fist. I will have the option of either tripping or grappling the enemy on my attacks but my plus to trip or grapple are low compared to stronger characters (obviously). Is there any other trip related feats that will give me further +'s on these checks later.

jotunbrand (sp?) from one of the faerun books lets you treat yourself as one size category larger when tripping and bullrushing. you should also get yourself permanently enlarge personed asap as well.

jotunbrand is not a possiblity for this character. However i will be able to make myself 2 sizes larger with my physic powers...so with the strength of the enemy power and expansion powers i could get a bonus of 12+ Str bonus depending on the number of power points i put into the expansion power. Also the Strength of my enemy adds a possible bonus of +8 str to my score and can be increased to to a
+20 with max power points spent and i hit the one enemy 20 times. Also that ability saps the enemies str so he will have a lower chance of resisting me i would have taken jotunbrand if my DM allowed me...anyways let me know what u think.

You might want to grab the Mauling Gauntles Soulmeld. It provides a +2 morale bonus (+2/Essentia invested) on all Strength tests, such as tripping and grappling. If you can bind the Soulmeld to your Hands you can get the bonus to Unarmed damage as well.

By 18th level you could have a +10 morale bonus to trip/grapple/damage if you can scrounge up 4 Essentia.

Swordsage with a whole bunch of Setting Sun Maneuvers... most of them are throws which require trip checks and you can get pretty crazy once you get that one that lets you throw someone for every 10 feet you move during the maneuver... just a thought...

Also, can you tell me where you are getting that Chaos Monk from?

+1 swordsage.. i played a setting sun swordsage and he was tripping and throwing*everything.* several battles were instawin due to throwing monsters onto deadly terrain from which they couldnt escape or would draw tons of AoOs trying to get back into the fray. you can read about his exploits here: http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=993917

Thanks for the tips guys i will look into your suggestions further and see if i could fit in a couple levels of swordsage or getting myself some essentia.

As for where i got Chaos Monk its in the dragon Mag. issue 335 page 88 and you also can find it at crystalkeep in the base classes section in alternate class options. The reason i am playing the chaos monk instead of the "normal" lawful kind is because of the flailing strikes instead of the flurry of blows. By mid teens i will have an extra +1d6 attack at my highest BaB which gives me a possiblity of 7 attacks at the highest and then the normal 10/5 +plus my bonuses assuming lvl 20. Its very interesting to play, however sometimes you keep rolling 1's and don't get a Full, Full attack lol great for trip attempts tho.

Anyways, thanks again for the tips
