Need 2 levels for a Tank

Apr 19, 2008 21:51:39 I am making a Tank character for upcoming game.
Party will consist of
Me
Psion blaster
Wiz/Incantatrix GOD
??? (Probably Swift hunter)

Attributes - Point Buy 32.
Allowed handbooks - Shadowy enigma wrapped in mystery. It's really annoying, but it happens.
Setting - Forgotten Realms.
Alignment - Any Lawful

I am trying to make a decent tank and i ended up with
Knight 4 / ??? / Crusader 2 using Combat Reflexes, Stand Still, Thicket of Blades and reach weapon.

Some of possible options:
Paladin 2 - Some nice options like Divine Grace and Detect Evil, but Code of Conduct could be a huge pain in the ass.
Warblade 2 - More Maneuvers, Uncanny Dodge, Stances. Optimal choice, I think.
Knight + 2 - 1 feat from a weak list, same speed in medium armor - I'd be standing in a place anyway so it isn't so cool. It simplifies the build thought.

Delaying Crusader by 2 levels and taking Dwarf Paragon 2 / Deepwarden 2 - Being dwarf would allow me to move with the same speed in heavy armor and Con to AC is very sexy but I'm a little afraid of multiclassing penalty and waiting so long for thicket of blades. Besides, dwarf wouldn't help with my Dex/Cha dependency.

Any other ideas?

Did you want a tank, or a crackdown? Tanks don't really need bab (especially with decisive strike).

Apr 20, 2008 1:01:21 Two levels of fighter? PIck up tower shields, full BAB, +3 fort, and two bonus feats from the fighter list. unfortunatly your skills suck.

A bit of both. I may end up as an only source of not per-day damage in party. Besides, I feel that Lady's Gambit could be just wonderful on Crusader.

Well, I'm not really sure. I mean, larged delayed damage pool is great, same as maneuvers, but Knight 4 allows me to make all enemies attack me and only me.

With only four levels of knight the DC will be 12 + cha mod, and that really isn't that high at all.
