Well, I'm making a Maug Character (Fiend Folio) and I'm looking for some ideas to help build it. I've read a couple of threads that don't include Tome of Battle, but I will have access to it and am looking for something that would work using it -- OF course, if someone has a better build that doesn't use it, then so be it.

One additional thing to note -- Me and a friend are making Twin Maugs for this adventure so we're looking for possible synergy between classes so that might help, the rest of the party is likely an arcane caster type, a skill monkey, and a necro/negative energy player -- this is why we've decided on Construct-ness for our melee characters, since the rest of the party is likely taking Tomb tainted Soul..

So if anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated..

ALSO OF NOTE:

We are aware of Incarnate Construct, and its removal of 2LA but we like the idea of a construct over an incarnate construct with Tomb tainted soul as well (Of course we might change our minds should someone come up with something cool -- maybe take mineral warrior to maintain awesome rockyness if it could work in)

The DM is going with a 22point array with 10 for ALL starting stats, so since We don't need Con, that gives us 32 points to play with.

Game is starting at ECL 4, (DM house ruling we can take the 2nd Maug Hitdice while playing (he's splitting our STR/DEX bonus between the two levels)

Furthermore, we're playing a pathfinder variant, so more access to feats and skills are slightly different, but we're adapting EVERYTHING 3.5 into Pathfinder so anything goes -- though the DM's have the right to veto things.

THanks in advance..

I found that a Maug 2 / Cloistered Cleric 1 / XXX 17 is very much playable, due to 3 things: Travel Devotion, Knowledge Devotion and last but not least Divine Vigor.

This one feat allows a Maug to maintain decent HP despite having no CON score and it's LA (hopefully bought off...).

A thematic build would go: Maug 2 / Cloistered Cleric 1 / Fighter 6 / Exotic Weapon Master 1 / Doomlord 10, LA +3 (Bought Off)

Feats:
1 - Power Attack
1B - Alertness
1B - Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Two-Bladed Sword)
3 - Divine Vigor
3B - Knowledge Devotion, Travel Devotion, Hunger Domain
4B - Weapon Focus (Two-Bladed Sword)
5B - Dungeoncrasher
6 - Improved Bull-Rush
7B - Improved Sunder
9 - Knockback
9B - Improved Dungeoncrasher
12 - Robilar's Gambit
12B - Improved Critical (Two-Bladed Sword)
15 - Combat Brute
16B - Cleave
18 - Staggering Critical
20B - Great Cleave

Of course, Doomlord isn't an optimized choise, merely a flavorful one. I'd go with Cyran Avenger 5 and some other class, instead, for an actual game.

Thanks, yes, I saw this post in another thread -- however I have to believe that tome of battle would allow for more versatility -- I'm working on a build myself but I must admit to not having that much detailed knowledge of the myriad of classes so any more opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, yes, being a Crusader would make you VERY hard to keep down, especially if you mix it with some Warblade.

A Ruby Knight Vindicator with Divine Vigor could be both.
