Hi group.

Step one:let's relax, Take a deep beath. My psionic powers have nothing to do with you feeling suddenly tired.

Step two: everything in these forums is speculation, praise, anger, bullSh*t.

Step three: We admit we are frustrated; and want info from the  5e core rule books Or at least that Basic PDF we were promised.

Step four: Screw that, and let's improvise, anger, and generally dick around at each other.

Step five: (hopefully) Let's be friends, wait, and let...It...Go...For now.

Step six; ACTUALLY wait until November when alll 3 'core' books are out.

Step seven: act like jerks at each other all over again....

This is why D&D fails.

I think that speaks more to a very small online community failing, rather than D&D as a whole. The latter has more to do with the game vs. the target audience's expectations (aka: do they want to buy/play the game or not?)

I think the larger general thread here (thread! get it? I don't) has to do with social interaction and the internet. Basically, it sucks. People resort to lame behavior because they can get away with it. Lack of real consequences allows one to more readily channel their inner jerk, I suppose.

Aside from that, I agree with you that people should probably wait for the game to actually release before making blanket statements about total and abject failure.

As an alpha tester, I've found it extremely difficult to sit here and read through all the baseless speculation that I know is competely wrong. It's really hard not to say anything.

I do feel people need to be more patient. Read the quote in my sig. It's a good 'un.

Compared to the launch of 4E, this launch is going wonderfully. I have seen almost no doomsaying, very little trolling, and everyone generally seems to be in high spirits. Sure, we've all got parts of the rules that we don't care for, but instead of whining about them, what I've seen is most people happily discussing ways to house-rule the game to their liking.
