What do you all use to store old modules and books with? I have seen a mylar sleeve with an easy tab that tucks in really easily. Lots of the sleeves out there kind of stink and wrinkle and are hard to close. Can you point me in the right direction to what sizes you use for the modules, books, and boxes, and also which brand is good? Thanks.

I've got several binders full of modules on the shelf, sorted by "favorites", BASIC, EXPERT, AD&D, 2e, Dragonlance, Ravenloft, etc..... Ive 1 binder like this that contains my BECMI books titled "rules". For thicker soft cover modules with a square spine (ex: Temple of Elemental Evil, all the Pathfinder APs)? I use the magazine sized version of comic bags - with a tab of scotch tape holding the flap closed. They go on their own shelf. My remaining Dragon/Dungeon magazines? Same bags, just add backing boards & store in a comics "short" box. For hard bound books & adventures? Nothing more than the bookshelf for them.... Things that came in boxed sets? Kept in the boxes with a rubber band around (every so often I'll find a band that needs replacing). |

Thanks CCS. I gotcha. Do you store the modules flat? If so, are they staggered? Here's what I have been doing, since I have nearly all the first edition D&D and AD&D modules, with numerous duplicates. I have been staggering them so that the spines dont get higher than the right hand edge of the cover when they pile up, if you know what I mean. I have them crossed so that the weight of the perpendicular stack keep the spines down. Am afraid that if I store them upright, they will bend. Will get the mylar sleeves for magazine sizes for the modules. For the boxes, I do want to put them in bags, as they are in the basement with humdity monitored, but the bookshelf does get dusty for some reason so I want to protect the books and boxes from the dust. Thanks for you response, and anything else as far as experience with storing these are appreciated. |

Not alot of room for bending.... The square bound modules & adventure paths are stored vertical as well, just bagged. Likewise for the magazines - Vertical, bagged & boarded, in the boxes just like you would if you were storing comics. ...... Now if you've got space on your shelf (or in a box) because your stuff doesn't reach end to end? Yeah, that could lead soft cover stuff bending as it sorta slumps over. So just craft yourself a spacer/bookend. |
