Game night is here so what is your ideal method of carrying Player materials: pencils, character sheet, mini, dice, spell cards, and PHB? In the past I've always used a tackle container for everything except my character sheet which I kept in my PHB. Since I recently bought spell cards maybe I don't need to take my phb.... Just looking for advice as tables are crowded at my game store and I'd like to pack as efficiently as possble.

If you're just a player, you can probably pick up a very small backpack at WalMart or Target, particularly one designed for school use that will have lots of little individual pockets for keeping things organized. You can use the straps to hang it on the back of your chair (or just leave it under your chair) so that anything you're not keeping on the table (such as your PHB) is still within easy reach and you don't need to leave anything at home.

Finding a color or design not meant for small schoolchildren may be problematic, though, lol.

Alternately, consider going to a local military surplus store and picking up some kind of small bag or backpack with straps on it (or places to add straps to it), just big enough to put your PHB in with enough room for your dice, pens and mini if you use one. If you're serious about putting together a somewhat generalpurpose "small go-bag", assembling it to your precise needs out of a couple of military-surplus pouches and a small pack such as a soft-sided map case, while a bit pricey, can be well worth it.

A lot of the players at my FLGS have taken to repurposing their starter set box to carry their stuff.

As a DM, I am currently running LMoP for a group, and I can fit my DMG and MM into the Starter Set box without removing anything that originally came in that box.

The starter set box, along with my PHB, a notebook, and my dice, pencils, and erasers fit in a bag that I received for free when I joined a book of the month club over a decade ago.  I also use that as my school bag.

My laptop, and backpack. I will start playing 5e when there is more support for electronic devices.

I use this. It has room for all your books, notebooks, dice, etc while giving easy access to it all. It also has holders for a bunch of pens and pencils. Very convenient. You can get it at your local military surplus store.
