| #1BrownGoshawkJun 04, 2015 2:45:10 | Hey everyone. I wrote up a custom path for the 5e warlock class to use with a character that I want to play - the blood witch. It is a slightly more clericy warlock with some damage buffs and healing, and a slightly serial killer/creepy flavour.
I wanted to share it with you so that you could use it for your character but also because I'm worried that some of the homebrew powers are OP. Let me know what you think.

Blood Witch
Warlock Pact
Your patron could be a demigod like lich, ancient vampire or even a rare and powerful blood dragon. Your patron likely resides in the shadowfell and has malicious designs on the denizens of the material plane.
Your patron communicates with you through the thrumming of the blood in your veins, a deep thudding voice that matches its rhythm to your heartbeat and patterns in blood splatters that no one else can see. Your endless mission is to discover the true secrets of blood and what powers are contained within it. Your research could extend to the blood of the mountains (lava), blood of the earth (rivers and oceans) or even the blood of the multiverse (flows of magic). Through ghoulish experiments and transfusions of blood from powerful creatures you have begun to unlock the power of your own blood but at the cost of slowly disfiguring yourself.
Though your methods may seem ghastly to some, you know that blood is the essence of all life. Just as evil creatures draw power from blood to fuel their deeds, so do heroes, good dragons and celestials have their lifeblood to thank for their strength in righteousness.
Expanded spell list - format: Fluff Spell Name (PHB spell)
Level 1) False Life, Pollute Blood (Ray of Sickness) Level 2) Sangfroid (Calm Emotions), Purify Blood (Lesser Restoration) Level 3) Blood's Memory (Speak with Dead), Revivify Level 4) Tendrils of Gore (Evard's Black Tentacles), Viscera Golems (Conjure Minor Elementals) Level 5) Bloodcloud (Cloudkill - dmg type to necrotic), Mass Transfusion (Mass Cure Wounds)
Ideas for Pact Boon:
Pact of the Chain: Your familiar could take the form of a bloody homunculi, oversized mosquito or vampire bat
Pact of the Blade: Solidified drops of your own blood make up a blade that constantly drips and dribbles. If you want to transform another magic weapon simply coat it in your own blood. Instead of disappearing into a pocket dimension, the blade flows back into your veins, awaiting your summon.
Pact of the Tome: Your book of shadows can be written in blood on pages of dried flesh or it can be carved directly on to your own skin.
Otherworldy Patron powers:
Hematophagy: Starting at 1st level, when you reduce a hostile creature to 0 hit points you gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier + your warlock level (minimum of 1)
Lacerate: Starting at 6th level you may use your own blood to fuel and augment your spells and attacks. When you make a damage roll you may take 1d10 damage and add 1d10 + your constitution modifier on that roll. You can do so after seeing the initial roll but before any of the roll's effects occur. Once you use this feature you can't use it again until after you finish a short or long rest.
Sanguinary Resilience: Starting at 10th level your blood responds to your will and can harden or retaliate when you are threatened. You have resistance to slashing and piercing damage and whenever a creature deals slashing or piercing damage to you it takes the same amount of damage as you.
Hypercoagulation: Starting at 14th level your blood clots supernaturally fast and wounds heal in an eye-blink. You regain 1 hit point at the start of each of your turns. Your severed body parts (if any) grow back within 2 minutes. If a severed limb is held up to the stump it reconnects instantaneously. In addition you may use your action to feed your blood to a willing imbiber within 5 feet. You take 1d10 damage and they regain 1d10 + your constitution modifier hit points.

If you want vampire pact then You're probably better off going the angle of the vampire-thrall, someone that's been corrupted by a vamp but not turned (yet?), if you want the blood magic you'r eprobably better off going with a wizard or druid sub-class. |
| #3NozareemJun 04, 2015 5:39:57 | This would be something more like a Dark Pact, Death Pact, or Shadow Pact idea which I'm betting will come out at some point in Unearthed Arcana. |
| #4FFSAAJun 04, 2015 6:14:00 | Infinite healing and infinite HP at level 14 is OP. Damage resistance at 10 is OP by itself but also damage reflection is way over the top. Revivify might be appropriate but it is a game changer that a warlock shouldn't just get. |
