Boon from the Ghost of an Elven Arch-Mage

So in my modified Lost Mine of Phandelver game the players have been garnering the affections of a "ghost" of an elven arch-Mage. They have returned her ring that she lost millennia ago and now her Spellbook that she likewise lost all those years ago and had given up on. She promised them that if they put the spirit of an old friend of hers to rest, then she would give them a great boon.

So I could use some advice on what the boon could be. I could use the DMG temporary boon advice. However at this time they've been fairly low on magic items thus far having deliberately destroyed the staff of the Necromancer (reflavoured staff of withering that wizards can also use) because such an item is far too evil to remain in the party. So I'm happy to give them a permanent boon, but I'm unsure what to make it.

Any suggestions?

What is level is the party? If they are around 11-level+, I'd consider granting them one wish, which the group will need to agree upon; or a clue to the whereabouts of a number of legendary items, or maybe even artifacts, they'll need for [whatever].

I like it.... useful without being over the top.

They do already have a taxidermied head that they can ask for information on almost any topic via speak with dead.

I like the idea of the group being able to 'trance'.  Mechancially speaking, it steps on the toes of actual elves but for the most part, it's just a bit of flavor for the non-elves in the group.

I would want it to be informed by the qualities of the Mage and not the race--especially since being a Half-Elf in this case. Your boon emphasizes that the Elven part is the "good" part. To me a blessing of Elvishness isn't the most valuable thing a Half-Elf/Mage could bestow. I imagine an Elven king or queen, someone whose longevity might have played a great part in their life.

So in your shoes I might do...

On each of the player's left forearm a shadowy tattoo is there. This is the Arch-Mage's symbol and a sign of debt to support them.  The left arm is sometimes a symbol of support we receive, where the right is what we do.  When the debt is repaid the symbol vanishes.  You could provide an incidental side effect, like everyone with the symbol would know when someone with the symbol is reduced to 0, or they always know when someone in the group is being attacked, or powerful emotinoal states are shared.  That can have both funny and interesting consequeces.  Could a mage's concentration be broken if he shared in the rage of a berserker?  And everyone would know what the ranger did when he disappeared upstairs with that woman from the tavern.

The boon could be a variant of a Wizard's spell, like Protection from Energy, Magic Circle, Sheild. or simple advantage. Perhaps three marks on the tattoo to show you have three instances of advantage.  Other classes have spells that lend themsleves more to "boon" concept, like Revivify, Guidance, etc.  personally I like keeping it to the personality/flavor of the ghost. To me that means a spell.
