I was wondering on how to fix one of the complaints of the battlemaster fighter subclass and another complaint of the hunter ranger subclass. The fighter class one of the few classes that gets a damage boost from their subclass and not fully utility. Ranger is another. So fighters and rangers can safely gain damage subclasses. Basically I want to see if I can make an "at will" superiority dice fighter work. My thought would be to have a subclass much like the battle master. But instead of having 4 d8s that restore on any rest, you only get 1 dice that returns at the start of every turn (like the early play test fighters). For balance reason the starting dice would be a single d4 and upgrade at the 7th (d6), 10th (d8), 15th (d10), and 18th (d12) levels. Now I want the "new" fighter subclass to be close in balance to the existing champion, eldritch knight, and battle master fighters. I was thinking of doing the same for rangers. A hunter ranger gets a blatant +damage at level 3. So a "dice" ranger could use dice a (d8) for Colossus Slayer, Giant Killer, Horde Breaker, Whirlwind attack, and Volley. Along with parry replacing Defensive tactics. So get your spreadsheets. Can we do it? Would it work. |

Level 3: Tactical Action: You can do one of the following as a bonus action. Trip Disarm Help Push Grapple Shift (move 5' without provoking) ???
Level 7: Some out of combat bonus.
Level 10: You can preform one of your tactical actions in place of an oppertunity attack.
Level 15: When you use your tactical action to trip, disarm, push, or grapple, you have advantage on the roll. When you use your tactical action to help, you can help 2 creatures. When you use your tactical action to shift, you can move 10'.
Level 18: When you take a second wind, each friendly creature within 30' that can see an hear you regains 15 hit points.
A controlling ranger would probabaly just get bonus control spells. |

Orzel, no they don't they just have to do something that's worth the damage drop. |

The leader fighter, the control fighter, and the reactive fighter are 3 different things. |
