Cleric has been one of my favorite classes to play in other editons, so i was having a look at the cleric in the document.

ANd i wonderd hoe viable a cleric with a lower wisdom score is to play.

Drawbacks of low wisdom for the cleric.

Less memorised spells, lower save DC, lower magical attack bonus.

But there is still a selection of spells that don't use the DC or attack bonus.

Cantrips (0 Level)
Guidance
Light
Resistance
Spare the Dying
Thaumaturgy

1st Level
Bless
Cure Wounds
Detect Magic
Healing Word
Shield of Faith

2nd Level
Aid
Augury
Lesser Restoration
Prayer of Healing
Silence
Warding Bond

only did level  the above spell levels but it seems that a buff/healing cleric has no real need for a high wisdon score.

Freeing up ability score points to maybe take a higer dex for AC and con for concentraition to prevent his concentration buffs from being taken down.

Part of the reason for this is so that the war cleric can focus on Str, without sacrificing too much in the way of usefulness.

Also the healing spells benefit from a higher wisdom.

Cure Wounds heals 1d8+Wis Modifier

Healing Word heals 1d4+Wis Modifier

If you are going to be the primary healer you might want those to be as high as possible. By no means does this make it necessary, just somthing I thought I would point out.

Cure spells are a big reason for Wis, especially at low levels.  Though the mod means less as you level, and you have channel divinity to back you up.

So yes, a buffer cleric can work.  Divine strike works with bows as well.

Though i'm waiting for the bard to play a pacifist.

Turn unded DC is also Wis based, so there's that. For healing clerics I can see two types: in combat healers and between combat healers. Cures are fine for in combat healing, though I think a Bless spell would be a much better use of an action and prevent more damage than a cure would heal. In between combat prayer of healing is real nice and  +1 or 2 Wis bonus on that isn't as big a deal.

So there's nothing wrong with a lower Wis battle-style or an in between "top off the party" heal style cleric, but if you want to do offensive casting or be good at turning undead Wis will be important.

Unless you're worried about organized play, it doesn't matter what the PDF says about MC requirements.  Multiclassing is optional and so are the requirements.  Feel 100% free to throw the requirements in the dustbin if you want to.

Besides, it's not like the MC rules or the requirements make any sense.

The fluff of the MC requirements is that you need to be naturally gifted to learn the abilities of the other class so quickly.  All that is well and good except for the part where you don't ever have to read a spellbook or practice waggling your fingers to MC into mage.  As long as you meet the attribute requirements, you just wake up one day knowing some spells and how to cast them.

It seems, so far, that less than optimal scores are quite functional in this edition.

I think the difference is what is considered "optimal" in 5e. Starting with a 14 or 15 in your primary stat was suicidal in past editions. Now, it's not really that big of a deal. Now, having a good primary score still helps you out a lot, but it's not like you'll be useless with a lower score either. I actually think they've struck the balance quite nicely.

I think your idea is just fine Edwin.  I might not make it a 9 but I see nothing wrong with it being a 12.   You can bump it later too using feats so it's not like you are stuck long term.  Feats are nice to have but not a requirement by any means.   I encourage you to do what is fun and not let the perfect get in the way of the good.   Too many people are obsessed with optimal everything.

The only MC requirements I'll probably have will be role play based. I want someone MCing into Cleric to have had a reason to want to. Maybe hanging out at the temple during downtime, or recieiving a flash of divine understanding during the adventure. I can see the reason when people seek to min max (and not saying min maxing is a bad way to play!), but the people I play with most likely won't care about min maxing, so I don't see a problem with waiving the requirements.
