It has a few 1st party campaigns, such as The Lost Mines of Phandelver, Hoard of the Dragon Queen/Rise of Tiamat, and the soon to come Elemental Evil, which I am excited about (not including The Sundering modules which are cross edition). Yet, for most, this feels like an underwhelming amount of content. How do you feel personally? Do you feel there should be more 1st party modules by now? Are you indifferent toward the whole thing? Or do you feel it is a fine number of modules in the span it's been out? Perhaps to breathe some new life into this still, relatively new game, Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro should host a competition, a module creation competition, where the BEST 10 modules (if there are 10 worthy) will wind and become printed to be playable for 5th edition. If so, would this excite you more? Would you participate? If so, how? By creating a module yourself to enter in the contest or by simply voting, if community voting was allowed? I would personally welcome this, as I feel it would spark more interest in the game. Getting the community more involved, getting those involve who just want to win and see something published, and ultimately, the top ones being printed bringing variety to the game, giving the potential DMs a lot more options. So, what do you say? Would you support the idea of a module contest? If so, let your voice be heard! I know I'd be interested! |
| #2RanthalanJan 26, 2015 9:01:45 | I'm indifferent as I make all my own content anyway. I'd rather have a dumping ground for home brew content that had a ratings system. I'd probably throw my stuff at a contest, but I'm not big on the idea as content creation does strike me as a competitive endeaver.
Tonight we start a new campaign with "The Captured Keep (on the Borderlands)". The problem is, it's geard mostly toward getting my players characters together so the into would likely be lousy for any other situation. And since it's basically a session 0 adventure, it's quite short in duration. |

WotC are focusing on quality over quantity - I wouldn't have it any other way.
Also, I will not have finished one campaign before the next releases, which makes their current release schedule look plenty fast to me.
If there is any slack to be picked up, which I don't exactly think there is, 3rd-party companies can pick it up. |

| #8AaronOfBarbariaJan 26, 2015 11:16:25 | Contests take time and people to judge the entries, and the people WotC has would need to reduce time dedicated to what they are doing in order to have time to spend on the contest - and that is the opposite of matching their intent of quality over quantity by definition. |
| #9Coredump00Jan 26, 2015 11:26:13 | I am hoping for more modules, partly because I have not been impressed with HotDQ and RoT; and I think part of the problem is they are trying to cram too many levels into one adventure path. Go from 1-8 8-15 and make it 1-6 6-10, and you have more space to provide detail an such.
My last campaign (3.5) used several modules that I tweaked a bit to create one large related campaign. More options are better. I would prefer modules covering smaller level advancements.
However, I am glad they are avoiding the 'tons of releases' crunchfest.... I think that does more harm than good.
But I would like to see more adventure options...

| #18CCSJan 26, 2015 14:40:23 | I'd like to see about 1 adventure module per month. Ideally the module could stand on its own - even if it's part of a several module arc (ex: The Desert of Desolation series from 1e. You could play any one of the 3 by itself. Or run them in order for a bigger story.) But if WOTC doesn't want to do that? Oh well, that's their problem not mine. I generally make my own stuff. But if I'm in the mood for a module I can always buy stuff from Paizo as the need arrises & modify it |
| #19masterfat78Jan 26, 2015 16:24:26 | Id really like to see some third party love in the adventure area. Id also like to see a third party take on a actual warlord class. |
| #20SilentSinJan 26, 2015 17:17:16 | I couldn't care less about published adventures. I buy D&D for the mechanics, classes, races, spells, etc. Then I use that as a framework for making my own adventures. I've never used a published adventure as anything more than an idea to make my own. |

| #27AaronOfBarbariaJan 26, 2015 19:49:53 | Actually, the free PDF part is supposed to be out in March, with the adventure book (that contains a subset of the info in the free PDF which actually gets used by NPCs/monsters in the adventure) following in April. |
| (Reply to #27)JohnLynch | We've had our last product release in December and our next one is in April. That's a product every 4 moths. I'll be happy with 3 products a year.

| #30AaronOfBarbariaFeb 01, 2015 5:54:48 | You don't actually need a license to put "compatible with fifth edition" (or a lot of similar phrases that would be clearly understood by any D&D player, but don't make use of any trademarks held by WotC such as the D&D name or logo, or the phrase Dungeon Master) on your adventure. |
